In one way I'm looking forward to today's round v Djokovic, in another I'm terrified. We know Andy can beat him if he plays well, but will he? I'm laying in a supply of tranquillers, defibrillators and cushions just in case. And the cat had better hide.
I wouldn't say he will have nothing to play for on Friday. Pride, points, and prize money come to mind.
...err, and possible qualification for the semi finals ! ( if he beats Andy 2 - 0 and Djokovic beats Berdych 2 - 0 ). I agree though that even if he falls out of contention for SF qualification, a guy like Tsonga could still be dangerous for the reasons you give and just the guy he is.
As I said before, it could get complicated with this result. They could all still qualify or miss out, and Andy could finish 1st, 2nd or miss out.
Standings ( with matches won, sets won and lost, and games won and lost ) :
Djokovic 2 4 - 1 30 - 23
Murray 1 3 - 3 29 - 30
Berdych 1 3 - 3 29 - 27
Tsonga 0 1 - 4 21 - 29
Tiebreaker if level on matches won :
a) If 2 tied, head to head result.
b) If 3 tied ( and that could be on both 2 wins or 1 win )
i) % sets won ( and then head to head if that reduces to 2 being level )
ii ) % games won ( if 3 still level after b ) i ) )

Very good quality match most of the time, buta few too many uinexpected loose shots at times. Good positiveness most of the time and it was certainly Djokovic that put in more running, but he is so commited to getting every ball back.
And the chunter chunter often, not unusually, at seemingly random times when he's lost a point through bad luck or actually good play by his opponent. It's generally much better, but it still remains to me counterproductive at times. Focus !
I still think Andy will get through, but now much more likely in 2nd place. So apart from today costing him 200 points ( well 400 really if you take it directly against Djokovic ) it would quite likely mean a semi final vs Fed rather than say Duracell Ferrer who apart from being generally preferable anyway, must run out of gas at some point surely.
So if Tsonga beats Berdych tonight, the match between Andy and Tsonga will determine who comes second ( Novak would beat either on head to head for first place even if he lost to Berdych ). That's the more straightforward final match scenario.
If Berdych beats Tsonga, it could potentially be rather complicated on Friday....so let's not bother unless it happens
I remember a couple of weeks back Sam Stosur having nothing to play for in a similar situation ( I know Berdych could beat Djoker in straights but highly unlikely ) and she had a shocker( beaten 0 and 3). justsaying
I actually think both Nole and Andy will win in straights for what its worth.
