Probably rambling but indulge me

I watched Andy Murray in his first ATP match at Queens, looking over the edge of the centre court, being sent back to my seat by a steward and then creeping back again.  I then started following his career closely and it was that which led me onto this site and supporting the whole of british tennis, which has given me so much pleasure.  It occured to me recently that if I became paralysed or just very old and inactive, I would still have fun every day and lots to look forward to just by visiting britishtennis.net.  So thank you Andy and everyone who contributes so much to this site.

I am so amazingly happy.  I am Scottish.  I am a tennis fan, but I am a British tennis fan, I remember being angry seeing Dowdeswell lose to Italy in the Davis cup.  seeing Castle lose to Wilander at Wimbledon.  Cheering for Tim and Greg but never really expecting them to win.  This is one of the happiest moments of my life.  I have nothing more to say, totally choking up.

Thank you Andy.

It's all over isn't it those days. It's like a relief isn't it. All gone now all that hopeing etc BUT with all the growing success in the womens game of late and the doubles victory it does fit in with the whole year doesn't it. Indeed a sort of mini era or some sort of good period starting. There's still work to do in the Uk but things are surely looking up now.

"I am so amazingly happy. I am Scottish. I am a tennis fan, but I am a British tennis fan"  as someone said  smile

I am a big all round sports fan, I support British athletes and teams and have loved the Olympics ( and Paralympics a bit more than I expected too )  and celebrated watching their vixtory parade today.

In sport, however, one guy matters to me more than all others. I have followed him for years and it has been a roller coaster.

Well done, Andy Murray, and writing this I am in tears again !

Me too, Indie. I have watched tennis since the 1950s - black and white, Wimbledon and Queens only at first of course, and had many favourites. I'm not Scottish but I am British, and will support any players from Britain: but even when Henman was playing I had other favourites that I would support that were not British: but I have never been so very invested in a player as I very early on became in Andy.

It was 2005 when I first realised I could follow tennis on the internet, good timing to be interested in Andy! I can remember distinctly watching him at Queens in 2005, I didn't see his first match ( I'm not even sure it was televised, if it was I missed it) but watching him play Johannson I distinctly remember sitting straight up and saying to my husband and daughter something along the lines of, "This kid is good. He's going to be a top player". Then I started following him in earnest. . .

Somewhere on this board you would be able to find my posts when the idea of Lendl for a coach was first mooted. As over the many years I have been watching tennis he was my all-time favourite before Andy came along (yes, even more than Tim Henman, though of course they were not the same era: I'm not totally sure who I would have supported if they had ever played each other) I was really all in favour of the idea, and thought it was just what Andy needed to take that final step. You can imagine how happy I am that he was around to help Andy this year.

I was up until nearly 3.30, too chewed up to go to bed straight after the match, and up again before 7 to check I hadn't been dreaming, so I'm glad I'm retired and can have a nap later in the day!

If we can't indulge people today, then when can we???!!

I have memories of following tennis for the last 50 years or so. This trumps them all!!
