In tomorrow's semis Liam plays 8th seed Kaichi Uchida, who upset top seed Kimmer Coppejans. A good opportunity as the Japanese boy hasn't beaten the other top juniors he has played this year. He is one of two Japanese through to the semis with Nishioka playing Peliwo in the other. Kyle's doubles semi follows the girls doubles on court 11 (possibly delayed slightly to give Nishioka more rest)
Brill, they were down a break in the second set too. Lets hope we have Brits going for silverware in both this weekends finals, best of luck to Liam and Kyle!!
Out of interest, why was Golding not offered a QWC into this years USO? Is that not customary?
Oli opted to play European Futures events rather than go to the US. As he entered events which conflicted with both the US Open qualifying and main draws he became ineligible to be offered a QWC (like Luke Saville at Wimbledon - only in his case it was a mistake, as he didn't realise that entering an ITF coinciding with week 1 of the main draw, assuming he would lose in qualifying, made him ineligible)
Liam's semi is first up (4pm) on court 13 and Kyle's doubles final is second on court 11
Wonder why they always put it on an outside court in the US? I know Wimbledon & Oz put junior finals on their 2nd show court (can't remember what RG do).
Because the USTA are idiots who couldn't organise an evening of enjoyable drinking in a brewary.
Look at tomorrow's schedule. On Ashe ypu have Ferrer v Djokovic at 11:00 followed by the Womens final at 16:00, fair enough! But then you have the Womens doubles final is on Armstrong at 13:30 and the two juniors finals are played on outside courts at 12:00.
Why not play 3 matches on Armstrong? Something like this
11:00 Girls Singles Final
13:30 Womens Doubles Final (so not to clash with Womens singles final)
16:00 Boys Singles Final
