I hope that the British public do acknowledge what Andy has done, Olympic gold and a Grand Slam are not to be sniffed at. He's had such bad press from our media, it's about time he got a break whether he cares about it or not!

Where do you think he gets bad press? I haven't seen any bad press about Andy for a good few years, perhaps sometimes I don't agree with the report but I don't think you could call it bad press. There have been loads of features in the papers about his win.

I guess the first things that springs to mind is the Olympic sequence where he's referred to 'a sometimes dour scot', immediately followed by the sailing guy being non too happy himself, and yet been given praise.

Yes - the number of people who have said to me, "What a nice smile he has, I thought he was a miserable so-and-so". I tell them he smiles a lot, just not when he is at work!

Another interview, a very sober, serious, but informative, wide ranging and decent 21 minute segment with Charlie Rose: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12544

Please note - There is an un-skippable 20s advert before hand.

Thanks for that, really nice to see an interview that lasts longer than 40 seconds and doesn't contain the same old questions.

What I really liked about that interview was Mr Murray's graciousness. While it was indeed good to have a long, differently slanted piece, there were times when Mr Rose's interviewing left something to be desired (though in fairness to him, I suspect this was a bit out of his comfort zone). But it was nice to see that when Mr Rose made assorted mistakes -- if you haven't looked, he told AM that he had lost the second set ... then said he'd won it in a tie-breaker ... got the scores of at least one of the later sets wrong, etc. Mr Murray handled it graciously and calmly ... tried to correct him, then when that wasn't getting anywhere, just slipped the correct information in without making a fuss. His answer to the questions about his losing the 3rd and 4th sets were also quite nicely handled!

Well yes there were a few erm oversights. but I was willing to overlook that for the chance to have an interview of some length.

And absolutely well done Andy for not pointing out the obvious bloopers, and there were a few !

Andy seemed relaxed, competent, thoughtful and well able to deal with the media. Well done him.

I have tried twice to watch that interview. The first time, it froze about 5 minutes in; I restarted and couldn't get it to fast forward anywhere, so had to listen to the start again. The second time my broadband connection went down at about 10 minutes - I just couldn't find a way to get to where I had left it.

My daughter is coming home at lunchtime to do the Great North Run, and while she is here she steals my computer, but next week I'll find a time when I can start it off, do something else for 10 minutes and then watch the rest!

For the question at the top of the page, I didn't manage to see Ferrer v Tipsarevic, but I have heard a lot of people mention it. Because I can only watch the USO on fuzzy free livestreams ( apart from the (VERY!) few on Eurosport player, I tended only to watch Andy's matches.

My daughter is home for the weekend and hogging my computer, but thanks Armchair - I'll watch it when she goes home.

For anybody that missed the match, the full match is on youtube also - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fseiNdfFs8&feature=youtu.be. Looks good quality too.

Great shot of Andy touring Dunblane today

This is the best photo I think I've ever seen of him. He just looks so genuinely happy, the sort of deep happiness you just can't fake.
