That was tough very tough, but it was Novak that broke down physically first. Finally the wait is over and he's done it. The best British player ever without doubt. So proud and chuffed for his family, his grandparents and especially his grandad will be so proud.
Well well well.....watched the end on a computer at work before driving home.....saw the first set and then had to go into work.....but caught the whole of the last set uninterrupted.....that was amazing....really really happy for Andy!
One thing though....what was Andy looking for at the end? They never answered that question.....his team said it was in his bag, but what was it?

Think it was a watch, something to do with sponsor requirements.

The long wait is over - and he put us through a right Murraycoaster.
But boy oh boy did Andy Murray deserve that trophy and the title of Grand Slam Champion. I've followed him since 2004 and the talent ha always been there but perhaps not the self-belief. Now it is and he knows he can beat them all when it matters most.
Very proud to be a Murray fan - the match was awesome and the better player won.
Amazing composure from Andy. Was actually pretty confident he was going to win the whole way through.
Me too ... though I did find myself shaking a bit 2 games before the end! He's been getting closer and closer to the point where he doesn't let minor setbacks get to him any more in the matches that matter most ... nearly did it at Wimbledon, did it in spades at the Olympics ...
Having said that, it did get a bit worrying once it became obvious it was going to go to 5 sets, but loads of people on Twitter were giving up on him at that point, and I was thinking, ok, it's anybody's match, but he's not going to let this go without a massive fight. As it was, he was almost as clinical in the 5th as he was in the 3rd set against Fed at the Olympics.
It's a really amazing achievement to win a match like that against a player who had won the last three hard court slams, in the toughest era ever - and as mentioned before, he's the only one of the big four who has won his first slam against someone who had won one before.

i read this site a lot and want to say thanks to all who post here regularly - especially Madeline - for great comments on tennis. I can't explain how happy I am to see Andy win. Let's hope it inspires more people in UK to take up the best game in the world. OK I'm biased!
I am off to bed....not sure if I will sleep....that was amazing.....even though I only caught the first and last sets.....lol.....that sure was amazing.....so deserved!
I couldn't - I only watched on a livestream. But I'm going to do my damndest to find somebody that did and beg for copies!
I'm back up again after only three and a bit hours in bed. I woke up and was terrified I had dreamt it - I had to get up and check that it had really happened at last.
I've supported him as well as I could since 2004. When he won the US juniors, after getting to the semis at the French juniors, I tried to find out as much as I could. Boy, it was difficult in those days! I googled "Andrew Murray" as he was known then (and as still appears in the title of this board), and all it came up with was some Scottish professor at the LSE. That professor is still there, but he is much lower down the page now! I switched from pay-as-you-go to broadband in 2005, just so that I could follow him. As I watched in the small hours of last night, I couldn't help remember doing likewise for the Aptos and Binghampton Challengers, and that was only livescores.
Now, Andy, I will be content even if you never win another, but there is a little matter of the first British man to win Wimbledon still outstanding. . .
OMG. Can't believe you missed it. James Bond beat Keyser Soze in the Champions Tie Break. It should have ended after Soze won the first 8 sets but Alex Ferguson was the umpire and kept them playing until Bond had taken the lead.
He then presented the trophy which was made entirely of chewing gum.
