Chardy played easily the best I've ever seen him, never thought he had anything else other than a huge first serve. Strange performance by Andy, had nothing on his groundstrokes. Did he underestimate his opponent ? or is he still getting used to the new surface etc.,. More rest won't do him any harm leading up to the big one, certainly losing early at Queens didn't affect him.
What kind of a message does that send out to your potential opponents at the US Open eh ?
To be honest I don't think it matters. Andy has played a number of woeful matches over the years but it never seems to impact on how he plays at the slams. As a fan however it is really hard to watch him play matches like this.

You're quite right, that was just a petulant and frustrated comment from me.
I've had high hopes for Andy at the US Open for some months and the knee injury followed by this capitulation left me a tad downhearted.
So does this mean that Federer now has five of those hideous Cincinnati vases at his home? Or does he perhaps try to slip some of them to the local "bring and buy" sales ..... give them to relations for Christmas ("I thought you might like to share in the past year's trophies") ... donate them to the flower ladies at the local church ....
