RE: Updates to this message board

I have just been reading the discussion (I'm tempted to say squabbling!) in one of the Futures threads about where discussion and entry lists for Futures should go: which seemed to include a general feeling that the Entry Lists and Rankings Section was too crowded.

Why not separate them into separate sections? They are both pretty big, in fact I would go so far as to say the Rankings part is huge. That should obviate the need for so many "stickies" as the frequently used threads such as the current week's tables automatically stay near the top, so only the ones keeping track of progress throughout the year would need to be stickied.

An alternative suggestion would be to make one entry list thread for each week which has all the entry lists included so for example "Week 19 Mens Entry" would include Rome, Edinburgh, etc. That way there's no confusion about where discussion needs to occur either.

(I don't mean to rubbish Madeline's idea which I think would also work, just throwing suggestions out there).

I think we could do with the rankings in a sub-section on its own. Its big with lots of threads /stickies.

I think the each event should have its own thread. There is usually discussion / changes in those threads and it if it were for various events say upto 4 or 5 events then would people get confused reading down as further posts for 'Edinburgh' would be seperate from the original entry list and so on......

I do think we need to sort out the whole debate of entry lists / discussions / rankings. I have PM David some ideas and I know he has his own.

My thoughts...revised...

Futures :- Entry lists and discussions all in Brit Men section with individual events with their own threads. (As we do now).

CH, WTA, ATP, GS :- Entry lists with draws both singles and doubles in the Entry list section

CH, WTA, ATP, GS :- General discussion, threads for livescores/matches in 'Brit Men' or 'Andy Murray' section.

I think we should separate the ranking thread to its own section. And the discussions for the top guys should be in the 'Brit Men' section...we have the 'Andy Murray' section for any individual news on him. Dont see the need to separate discussion for the top 5 or 6 from the rest.

This is an idea and welcome comments....we just need to sort somethin out.

Finally I am pedantic about doing things the same...or a pain in the a**e depending on your point of view smile.gif so I am happy to 'patrol' thread names and keep the formatting the same for entry lists etc...so dont have to worry about that. I just think it is professional that all entry list threads etc are formatted the same. We are getting more and more popular and it would do us no harm to have some formatting.

Drew

You want to discuss WTA matches in the Brit Men or Andy Murray sections? shocked.gifbiggrin.gif

(I can be a pedantic old fogey too)

I agree with Drew. Now all we have to do is persuade David. . .

I have update all the current mens and womens thread titles to the following format :

Eg...

Week ?? - Womens ITF ??K - Anytown, Anycountry

Week ?? - Futures F??(M) - Anytown, Anycountry

Week ?? - Challenger(M) - Anytown, Anycountry

Week ?? - ATP MS - Rome (MS for Masters series)

Week ?? - ATP - Estoril (Just ATP when no MS)

Week ?? - Wimbledon - London (Just for Grand Slams... Name and location)

Does anyone think we should be the value for mens events like we do for womens ? Ie 10K or 15K for Futures....25K, 50K etc for CH ?

Do NOT let this put people off starting threads...it will take time and I will along with any other Mod can do the edits.

Haha nice one. Maybe a bit premature though, Andy might still play the French!
