RE: Week 30 - ITF ($50K) - Lexington, USA Hard

Bring on Glushko! 210 sounds about right to me.

Joko has a 100k next week too, if she can bring this form over she could certainly add to her haul.

If Johanna wins the title she will put herself in an elite group of Anne, Elena and Heather who have all won titles at $50K or higher, so it should augur well for her to progress towards the top 100. Elena has two at $100K, two at $75K and one at $50K. Anne has one at $100K, one at $75K and four at $50K. Heather has just the one at $50K.

JK did it again! A DF in her first service game of every match this week, including the doubles. A second DF brings up deuce, and Johanna has to fight off a break point, but holds firm - as about 50 other times this week!

1-1*

Julia waltzed through a love service game. Johanna made to work considerably harder - taken to deuce and a break point again. Again, she fights it off, after three deuces.

2-2*

*0-40 for Julia, aided by a JK DF. The game is lost to love. Glushko then backs it up wirth a love service game.

Glushko's service games are very easy for her at the moment, and massive pressure on every one of Johanna's services.

A bit worrying, but the Doi match yesterday was a bit like this in the first set.

*2-5

And that's the set. JK fought hard again, getting Julia to deuce, but a second set point proved decisive.

3-6

Glushko clearly the better player in that set - any way you slice it.

Johanna serving at 75%. But, it doesn't seem to matter, she's still only winning about half of those points. Glushko by comparison is serving at 68%, but winning 87% of her first serves.

Hopefully Johanna can dig deep for the second set, looks like she'll need to.

So we've got Jo the finals specialist against Glushko who has spent far less time on court this week, should be another tight match.

Pressure again from Glushko in game 1 of Set 2, a break point, despite 5 JK first serves, and the break is secured.

This 'feels' different today to the rest of the week, it feels... ominous!

0-1*

Perhaps Johanna has finally run out of gas after all her exertions this week, struggling for every single point on her serve now, as Julia sets up *0-40, and takes the third break point.

The lead now, sadly seems pretty insurmountable - JK is yet to have a single point on Julia's serve in the match.

Come on Johanna, one final effort!?!

0-3*

Another easy service game for Glushko.

*0-4

2 more break points I'm afraid, *15-40. This in a set where JK is now serving at 84%! Julia takes the second BP and I think we can stick a fork in this one now!

0-5*

And, it's over!  cry

3-6 0-6

A disappointing and rather anti-climactic performance given the heroics of the week. Tiredness must have been a factor. I had hoped Glushko having to play two full matches in the day would have levelled things up a little, but apparently not.

She wan't really in this match at any point, Glushko had the number on Johanna's service throughout, and though Glushko served a low %, when the 1st serve went in, it was almost always an easy point for her - JK didn't get any change on the Glushko service game at all.

Nevertheless it's been an excellent week.
Well played Johanna.

Hopefully some matches will become easier to win - I remember that long hard match she had in SW19 too - and you'll have more juice to be competitive at the end of the weeks.

Looking forward to where she can go from here.

I don't think so unfortunately. Only the parallel ATP matches have been streamed all week.

They did show a Mattek-Sands match earlier in the week when the Men finished early. But the finals are simultaneous on neighbouring courts.

27° C, 54% humidity, 10 % chance of rain.

Glushko has already played the doubles final today - Which she lost on the champions TB - so that should help JK.

Best of luck Johanna!

Now on court. Julia Glushko to serve first.

Very strange service statistics in this set. Johanna is getting 86% of 1st serves in, winning 25% on 1st serve and 100% on 2nd.
Julia was doing he opposite but improved her 1st service % in her last game.
