We don't absolutely "need" it, but I'd say perfectly reasonable given we have a dedicated Andy Murray section.

In spite of the case, as not usually, other Brits are playing in a tournament that he is, and there is a general tournament thread I'd say this is well worth its place and should remain here in the Andy section for general reference as to his particular results and any comments re his performances.

Makes sense to me  smile

L32:  (1) Andy Murray WR 4 vs Nicolas Mahut (FRA) WR 65

Andy has played Nicolas twice before on the Tour, both times on hard courts (Indian Wells in 2007 & Marseille in 2008), & won both matches in straight sets.

^^Seconded. When this board started it was only an "Andrew Murray Message Board", and is the reason I joined. While I'm quite happy with the move to general British tennis, it sometimes seems to me that our best player is rather neglected on here. I know that I always used to follow his matches on here but there are so few people posting now I don't find it worth while - admittedly I'm guilty there as well, as his matches can usually be watched on tv or livestream now: the tv is not near the computer and I miss too much of the tennis if I'm trying to post at the same time.

When another Brit is in the top 50 or Andy starts to slide down the rankings would be the time to rethink whether or not he should have a section of his own, and while he has a section of his own, of course there should be a thread for his tournaments.

Second match on Centre tomorrow, after Rodders (7) vs ERV (& followed by the Baker Boy vs JWT (2)).

Does make it abit confusing to follow one tourney, I normally go to the 'mens'  section and people comment on Murray there if he's in with the pack as it were.

It's very rare that there are any other Brits in the tournaments Andy plays, though! Only in the grass season, usually.

I always go into the board via the "recent posts" tab. That way I can see what has been posted all over the board, and pick up on the ones that particularly interest me.

And Andy could easily follow them, if he's not careful:  he dropped the first set by 3-6 & has thrown away a 3-0 lead in the second.  Currently *4-4. cry

Andy finally gets a set on the scoreboard, but not without a struggle:  7-6(4). hmm

And Andy loses in the deciding tie-break. A poor match from him overall, I thought. Far too tentative in the first two sets, and at times in the third. Though Mahut played very well, and he had the advantage of already having played and won a match - I really hate byes, I don't think they do many players much good.

Terrible. Oh well, more rest for Muzz! I believe (i.e. unless I missed one when I skimmed through the activity) Mahut is the first GEM to beat Muzz on grass since Tsonga at the Nottingham Challenger 8 years ago. Monfils beat him on grass at Roehampton juniors earlier that year too. He's had 9 straight wins against GEMs sur l'herbe since.
