I can't say I'm too disappointed by this result, if what we've heard about Murray having various aches and pains and little twinges is true then the extra recovery time can only be a good thing with so many important tournaments coming up in quick succession.

OEM in today's Times quotes Andy himself as saying exactly the same thing (+ no real time to recover/shake it off since then!).  cry

So why doesn't he give up on the clay court season now and try to get better for the summer, I wonder? Surely he has much more chance of winning one or more of Wimbledon/Olympics/US Open, especially if fit, than he ever has of winning RG, especially if still suffering from back problems!

Lendl's influence perhaps?  Otherwise, pass!  Seems the obvious thing to do, though...

He got to the SF last year. It takes some doing to lose that amount of points without trying. Difficult decision for him.
