<minor point most will be very happy to ignore wink> Isn't the stress on the 2nd syllable of Nalbandian? (so no accent required)

Gasquet still has to beat Lorenzi first (which he probably will of course) - the match he won today was a R1 match, not a R2 match (confusing, I know!)

Yes, I just came back to correct my post. Probably will be Gasquet, though.

Not one of my better posts! ashamed

Only a couple of days ago, I'd've said "no", as I had a note of his name with the accent, having seen it on Wiikpedia, which is surprisingly reliable in that department, but I've now checked it again (not to mention several Spanish-speaking sites!), & it's disappeared.  It would seem that the acccent is indeed not required.  Sorry to those who, like me, actually care.

I have absolutely no idea how I managed to mistake Gasquet's first-round victory today for a second-round one!

Didn't see Ivan.

He's scheduled to play a match himself on Friday in Prague on Saturday 19th May per this article on the tournament website. http://www.spartapragueopen.cz/en

My fictional money is on Andy.  Out of interest why do you call betting "sad" ?

Betting is completely illogical. The bookmaker's or website intermediary's profit margin means that you are almost guaranteed to lose money if you bet regularly. Which is pretty sad.

Although of course the "availability heuristic" means that gamblers have a sad tendency to remember their occasional wins and forget their much more frequent losses.

And their inability to maintain accounting records compounds their failure to face the sad truth.

Er, hang on a sec .... there's a message coming through .... *disk error in sector 572-46* .... aaaaargh!!!! ..... jrtf4567fgbnojge32sdwe ....

I'm pretty sure it was said from the start that all the clay court work was to be done before and at the start of the clay season, I seem to remember it being commented on and people wondering if it was the right approach.

I think he will be back with Andy next week to work ahead of the FO.

However my memory is notoriously unreliable these days so don't take that for gospel!

No, I was wrong: Ivan is not with Andy next week either. I've found the article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/feb/25/ivan-lendl-andy-murray-tennis?CMP=twt_gu. It was never the intention for him to be there for Madrid or Rome or the week before the French Open.

He will be there for the French Open itself though.

Thanks Madeline. Will read the article later when I can hook up to some power.

An Italian poster on am.com(yes, I know it's not really that any more, any more than we are bt.net, but old habits die hard) has apparently tweeted that Andy's practice today showed signs of a few physical problems - back, foot, leg. . . She said there were more breaks and talks with his physio than actual practice. I hope it's just a few niggles after the hard match yesterday, but I must say it worries me for tomorrow, as his matches against Gasquet are usually strenuous as well.

Also I just watched a recording of the Sky on-court post-match interview, and I could see his back was troubling him. As somebody who has had back problems for many years I recognise the signs, the way of holding yourself.

Ah well, time will tell.

Oh dear, that does sound worrying. I still feel optimistic about his progress here for some reason.

Muzz won the 1st set 7-1 in the tiebreak then went 5-1 down in the 2nd, Gasquet blowing his first chance to serve for the set at 5-2 before Muzz gave up another break to lose it 6-3. D'oh!

27 break points so far - 13 for the GEM, 14 for A-HEM (garlic & haggis-eating malingerers for non-BOTB entrants), Gasquet has taken 4/13, Muzz just 2/14.

Andy loses 7-6 3-6 2-6. Just too erratic. A few brilliant shots, but far too many careless ones, and not very good serving. Oh dear.
