Girls: AEGON Junior International Nottingham wk 1 - Grade 4 (Week 15)

As usual there is a strong British line-up in Nottingham, including our 3 top 1997s looking to make amends for a disappointing trip to Malta.

The main draw is up at http://www.lta.org.uk/NewWebsite/LTA/Documents/Fans%20News%20and%20Major%20Events/Results/2012/AEGON-Junior-International/Nottingham/Girls-18U-Singles.pdf

Highlight of the opening 2 rounds is a win for our top ranked under 14 Maia Lumsden over the Russian 4th seed. Freya Christie continues to struggle though, losing to wildcard Kim Schmider. The match of round 3 could be under 14 National champion Anna Brogan against 2nd seed Georgia Craven - neither player has been remotely troubled so far.

Anna couldn't replicate yesterday's success, but Lana upped her game to see off Eden and Beth ensured a British finalist. Maia completes the line-up with her first semi in only her second ITF tournament. We are assured of at least a part share of the doubles title

Maia Lumsden d. (11) Ella Taylor 7-6(6) 6-4

(5) Joana Vale Costa (POR) d. (14) Anna Brogan 6-3 6-2

SF

(1) Beth Askew v Maia Lumsden
(8) Lana Rush v (5) Joana Vale Costa (POR)

Not quite (within 2 points of the double), but she landed her first singles title - very good going for someone just turned 14 playing her second tournament

F

Maia Lumsden d. (8) Lana Rush 6-3 2-6 6-3

Doubles Final

(5) Askew/Folland d. Brogan/Lumsden 6-2 5-7 [11-9]
