He is 3 months younger than Bernard Tomic, who was similarly gifted from a very early age.
But Boluda has not grown very tall - his "official" height is 5'5". Tomic's is 6'5".
That fact could well be the only reason he has struggled on the senior tour. Talk about being a prisoner of your genes.
I like this quote from Michael Shermer, a scientific author who used to be a pro cyclist. When asked to explain why he had never made it to the top in cycling, his answer was:
"I should have picked better parents."

I'm guessing it should be Moldova, but Molvania is the 'fictional country' that appeared in a spoof lonely planet guide. Moldavia on the other hand is a historic region that is half in Romania and half in Moldova.
As for 'getting excited' over kiddie tennis. I don't see an awful lot of 'excitement' per se, I just see people reporting results and giving opinions on how the players are developing.
A good day for the girls, but not the boys. Next up for Maia is the girl ranked 1 in Europe (though made little impression on the Tornado last week), whilst Gabriella tackles one of last week's semi-finalists.

I don't see much excitement either. I was just reporting that I can't get excited.
So none of us are excited - and how good does that feel, to agree with other posters for a change ...
But what a shame that I wasted my superb - but probably almost entirely unread - thoughts on Carlos Boluda and the transience of youthful promise, on this crappy thread. I am such a fool! To think that my heroes Steven and Indiana will never appreciate my brilliance.
It's almost as stupid as posting something interesting during a match where someone is putting up the score on the thread every 30 seconds. Why do they do that - who wouldn't either watch it on the telly or follow the score on the tournamant website? ... weird ...

Oh, 2 mentions in successive posts, such an honour
But that's by the way. To your question...
I don't quite get what you mean by being stupid to post something interesting during a match, myself always feeling interesting is better than non interesting. But maybe I'm missing some wry humour, or you haven't put it very well or something else entirely
As to the game by game ( and indeed point by point ) commentaries folk write, what is indisputable is that many folk appreciate them and have said so at various times, i.e. these who completely miss a match that interests them such as being at work, asleep etc etc.
I have found it interesting myself to read through such scoreline commentaries, sometimes with added report touches. It tells me how the match developed, and occasionally if you don't know the result at all and begin at the beginning, you can even get a bit caught up in it retrospectively.
So, just perhaps "they do that" as an appreciated service to fellow forum members. I'd never myself do it off TV and rarely from internet streams, sorry folk but I don't want to take away too much from my own enjoyment of a match. But I have sometimes done it from scoreboards if I think most folk interested will be missing it.
Anyway, thank you for your question, which I have done my best to answer. If you have any more, just ask
On young Carlos, I really did begin to try to read that long 2007 Daily Telegraph report that you copied, but it was difficult to read in that format, my eyes not being the best. I think I got the gist, that folk thought he was going to be a great future star, eh.
And anyway one example ( for now ) of early big promise not being fulfilled ( and of course there are many other real examples ) didn't take away the fact that I found more interest in DavidC's list of previous winners and finalists of Les Petits As.
Be assured, I personally read all you wrote yourself in this thread, and would never deliberately ignore your words, you having gone to such effort to deliver your thoughts
