Andy & Baggy came incredibly close to upsetting the second seeds!  Full result:

QF:  Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) & Andy Murray lost to (2) Jürgen Melzer & Philipp Petzschner (AUT/GER) by 6-3 3-6 [13-15]  cry

I'm not sure losing a heartbreaker in a doubles match for Andy is such bad news. Come Olympics time of course it would be.

Very impressive from Muzz tonight in complete contrast to the difficulties in his R1 & R2 matches - it was also his first straight sets win against Baggy in 6 attempts, taking the overall H2H to 3-3. Tomic or Istomin next.

It will be Tomic. Interesting match it should be, I hope it is going to be on at a sensible time (for UK fans, that is!)

AM.com forum are reckoning at a start about 5am. Yuk! I'm not a morning person! I would like to see the match, though, if I wake up in time I might get up for it.

'twas me who did the maths and I think it'll be about right.

There's a Mens dubs starting 12noon but the organisers only allow an hour for it because next is a Not Before 1pm match with the first Semi between Simon and Dolly.  Both those matches could go long and 90mins is more realistic for the dubs and perhaps the same for the singles but if that goes to 3 it'd be about 2hrs.

So, I reckoned Andy would start about 3pm Oz time making it 5am for us.  But it could slip back easily by another half an hour.

There were about 20 of us bleary eyed peeps on AMFF this morning - it's all good practice for the AO fortnight I guess but I feel jet-lagged right now!!!

Good job he won  to make it worthwhile ... nothing worse than shouting at a stream in the middle of the night when Andy is losing!

smile

That lpoks pretty impressive from Andy, nice to see.

And good work on the breakpoints, 6 out of 6, winning his four and saving the two that Baggy had.  Must be Lendl already having an effect in teaching Andy how to deal with pressure points  wink

The Brisbane site only has highlights at the moment, but I'm hoping they are going to put the full match on again!
