Boys: Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships, USA - Grade 1 (Week 48)

Liam Broady and Kyle Edmund should be seeded here, and joined by Luke Bambridge, Joshua Ward-Hibbert, Sam Hutt, Jordan Angus and Jonathan Cornish. Evan Hoyt has to qualify though (which might explain why he wasn't playing doubles in doubles in Mexico)

Karim Arem (USA) v Damian Gryzelko (GBR)

(6) Evan Hoyt (GBR) v Ryan Cromwell (USA)

Given that Golding and Morgan could also have played here if they had wanted to, the number of people competing (or not) is a real tribute to the sheer depth of talent in the 16 to 18 British boys. Remarkable.

Once the 1993 boys move on, including obviously Oli and George, the rankings should really show how much more depth there currently appears to be in the following couple of years.

The January rankings should have ( with current rankings in brackets )

Top 10 :   Liam Broady (10) and probably Kyle Edmund (29)

In or around the top 50 :  Joshua Ward-Hibbert (93) and Luke Bambridge (94)

Into the top 100 :  Sam Hutt (111), Jordan Angus (132) and Jonathan Cornish (136)

On the verge of the top 100 :  Evan Hoyt (176), Peter Ashley (177) and Scott Clayton (178)

And leading the rest, in the low 100s :  Joshua Page (194), Johnny O'Mara (198) and Thomas Colautti (207).

Of these current top 13, behind Oli and George, 7 are 1994 boys, but nearly half are younger.  5 being 1995 boys ( Edmund, Bambridge, Hoyt, O'Mara and Colautti ) and Ashley being August 1996.

Evan comfortably through his opener, but the second could be tough against someone with an ATP ranking

Comfortable qualification, but don't know yet who Evan plays. Kyle is in the same quarter of the draw as Dominic Thiem. Luke and Jonathan have very tough draws.

The draws turned out to be too tough for Bambo and Jonny but Josh won, Liam won and Hutty is currently playing out a third set. Kyle just about to start.

Kyle after a huge week last week, surprisingly goes out in the first round 6&1, still though always tough to back up from a big week before. Hutty wins in three, Evan and Jordan just started.

The head of junior tennis at the LTA is tweeting from the event, so he has been proving to be the best source https://twitter.com/#!/martindweston

The Eddie Herr site has results, not sure how quickly or slowly though - http://www.eddieherr.com/
