If he had been playing at the level he has been recently I think he would have won - it was very close, Berdy only won 3 points more than Andy. They just happened to be the more important points furious! But Andy's serve was off, and so was his backhand of all things. He might have made it with one of them off, but not both.

 Martin Samuel is a great journalist.  He writes on sport and on other subjects, and is always interesting and entertaining.
