Despite severe flooding in the surrounding area the Grade 2 goes ahead, with the British group augmented by Katy Dunne after her excellent week in Osaka. She is seeded 4th, but may need to call on Pippa Horn's advice for dealing with Karin Kennel, her projected quarter-final opponent, after she ended the Swiss girl's long unbeaten run today.
Yes Katy did beat Tyulpa last week, but it would be a major shock if Katie could follow suit. Pippa's defeat isn't particularly surprising - her opponent is a 1997 who has gone 23-3 this year, and looks a talent.
Major shock it is Katie's first win I think over anyone in the top 200 is over the world no.45. Katie and Katy have also teamed up to reach the doubles semis. Katy has the expected Swiss challenge in the quarters.

According to the Bangkok Post, the flooding problem is getting more severe, with the government directing the water into the district where the tennis center is to protect the city centre. I hope everyone is Ok and the can get home ok.
The girls gave a w/o like Peter. May have been illness in the camp, but I would guess that it had more to do with the flooding which has closed one of the airports in Bangkok, so the remnants of the British party may have decided to leave while they can.
yep-youre right. mixture of illness/tiredness/ and worry bout getting home. Jonny home this afternoon with some of the guys but some of the group unfortunatelyhaving a tough time at the airport in Bangkok. Jonny didnt think the situation on the ground was too bad, the media always seem to make it sound worse, but he was glad to be home nonetheless! he definitely thought it would get worse
