oli just misses out on getting to number 1, he will rise to number 2. not sure if that is something he will want to persue, he is very very close to vesely, something to add to the cv
^Not unless there is some sort of benefit. I don't know the precise rules, but top 5 juniors get a certain amount of exempts for next year. Is it the same for all the top 5, or does the number 1 get more? If not, being number 2 is, for all intents and purposes, the same as number 1, sans the kudos.
Yes, I make it Jiri now on 1230 points and Oli on 1176.25 points.
Oli though does have points to defend before year end and Jiri doesn't ( certainly Eddie Herr and some doubles points, think Oli's big Casablanca points at the turn of the year count for this year OK, not sure )
So if he wants no 1, it will require doing very well in at least one more junior tournament, it won't come to him.
I'd tend to agree with Maza, unless there is real benefit, maybe as well just concentrating on seniors now.
The one thing that he will certainly always be is : US Open Boys Champion 2011
Wasn't able to get onto the forum during the match for some reason, but what a brilliant end to a great tournament for the Brits and fabulous for Oli
@theslicetweets was sending loads of updates during the match and lots of pics at the end, with @5livetennis doing a very good job too.
What is most encouraging is that George has won the Orange Bowl, Liam reached the Wimbledon Final and now Oli has won the US Open ... a case of anything one can do, another believes they can do slightly better! It would be great to see them start leapfrogging each others' achievements at senior level in the years to come and exactly the kind of setup that should keep them pushing each other on and trying to match/outdo each other in training and in every other way.
Without checking all the possibilities, I'd worked out the win should take Oli to no. 2, so nice to see it corroborated here

Kyle at just 16 making the semis, well he could be the best of the lot...i still think it will be Liam though

How does that work then? So George Morgan's main motive for hitting the big time in pro tennis is because he wants to outdo Oliver Golding?

Yes, that's really how when the question came up earlier in this thread I said I thought it was more each other that was inspiring the boys, rather than what Laura and Heather were doing in the main draw. Though it's all good
I'm kind of like you in that I'd just checked out Oli ( now ahead of Jiri's previous total ) and Jiri's new totals and knew any potential challenger hadn't reached the semis here so am assuming he's now no 2. We can blame Tennis36 if he isn't

in skysports interview he said if he's close enough, he will give it a go, he wants to end the year #1, and my maths is to be relied on (i think)

No, and Steven certainly didn't say or suggest that. But I do tend to agree that I think it will be good for them at least in the early years of their senior careers to have fellow Brits that they have come through the juniors with there to measure themselves against and, yes, try to outdo each other in a healthy rivalry.
That said, it maybe hasn't really worked out too positively with the bigger ( but not so good ) 89 / 90 group of boys, but I just have this gut feeling from whatever little I have seen of their interaction that the top 93 / 94 / 95 boys may indeed benefit from having each other as some competition. I think they already have as juniors.
