That is great news at being some help to the bottom half with as things now stand their finalist will not have to play 4 successives days including the final, but both finalists will get a day off before the final ( as the finalists always should but hey that's another story ! )
It's the women that have to play single semis Saturday night and their final the next afternoon. Logically, with a clean sheet, you would have the semis the other way round on the Saturday, but clearly they are keeping the Saturday as close to originally planned as possible ( for spectators and TV ) with just the women's night session being their semis rather than the final.
Here's to yea good new tradition of the Monday US Open open final ( now who mentioned rain on Monday )

Looked back at the stats and comments on here from the Isner match at the Aus Open 2010. Andy cut the pace off his first serve as Isner apparently struggles to deal with kick serves. Isner terrible at responding to drop shots so I imagine we will see plenty of those. Expect to see a very tactical display from Andy, attempting to exploit weaknesses in Isner's game. So far in this event, Isner has won an impressive 59-62% behind his 2nd serve; in Aus he managed just 28% against Murray.
Isner has played a ridiculous amount of tennis since Wimbledon. Won Newport, lost to Fish in final at Atlanta, made semis of Washington, struggled in the Masters events then won Winston-Salem the week before US Open. Has he got enough energy left ?
Isner numbers during US Open:
- 6 tiebreaks to date, all won - broken his opponent's serve 10 times in 14 sets - been broken 7 times (5 times by Simon, 2 times by Baghdatis) - 107 mph av 2nd serve speed - 67% won on 1st serve against Giles Simon - 77 aces - 141 mph fastest serve

Would be mortified if Andy lost this match. Isner might be an improved player but he is still a limited player and Andy should be able to exploit the weaknesses in his game.
Yes, Isner is a player who should be made for Andy ( yes, I know tempting fate but still.... ) He may have improved but his ranking hasn't much. I can't help remembering how Andy utterly dismantled him at that Aussie Open last year.
Interesting stats from kundalini. Yes, I certainly imagine Andy will cut the pace off his first serve, given it appears the slower kick serve disturbs Isner and anyway cutting the pace seems the only way he can rely on a decent first serve in percentage at the moment.

A lot of pressure on Andy....I mean....the way that guy can serve....puts so much pressure on your serve all set long unless you break him....then you can relax....but the way that guy plays tie breakers too.....I still think Andy will win in straights....but pressure on Andy's shoulders....expected to win but against a guy who serves so big and plays tie breakers so well.
