Andy v Donald Young 1st on Arthur Ashe 4pm (I think)
Awaiting indiana telling us just how abysmal Andy's record is when he's started the day time session on Ashe. Or have the horror shows been on another court ?

Wow, that was messy. If I had known there would be such further fascination over Andy's when and where court performances I wouldn't have chucked my sheets with the info into the bucket
Anyway, apart from in 2008 concluding his interrupted semi final win against Nadal on the Sunday and of course losing the final on the Monday ( both these actually started quite late in the afternoon ), Andy has never played 1st off on Arthur Ashe, i.e. never in a regular day's schedule.
To save any future wonder, his losses have been :
2005 Grandstand 3rd - R2 - Clement in 5
2006 Louis Armstrong 1st - R4 - Davydenko in 4
2007 Grandstand 4th - R3 - Lee in 4
2008 Arthur Ashe - only - the final ! - Federer in 3
2009 Arthur Ashe 3rd - R4 - Cilic in 3
2010 Louis Armstrong 3rd - R3 - Wawrinka in 4

This schedule could turn out to be very good. The weather forecast is rotten for today so being first up gives Andy the best chance of completing his match.
Bottom half of the draw are going to be at a major disadvantage, if no play today, likely to have to play 4 best of 5 set matches in 5 days if make finals.
I think everyone is going to be affected. If they get any play in today, good. But a rainy front has come in, and then the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee are making their way up the East Coast, which means that it's due to rain both today and tomorrow. Actually, glancing at the latest forecast, it's due to rain at some level every day until Saturday. Roof for Arthur Ashe, anyone?
PS: It could be worse -- fortunately Katia (the large hurricane east of Florida) is due to recurve over the Atlantic rather than come up the East Coast.

The bottom half arguably starts off with a slight disadvanatge, which can be compounded. But if they did get their R4 in and then the top half didn't get their QF in tomorrow then they would have actually evened things a bit for later in in the tournament.
Luck of the draw ( and the weather ) really, as long as the US Open folk don't compound anything by some of their occasionally rather odd scheduling decisions
