The head-to-head is 3-6. Andy last beat Djoko by 2 & 5 in the final of the 2009 Miami Masters. Since then, he has lost to him in the final of this year's Oz Open (hard) &, more recently, the final of the Rome Masters on clay...

Oh oh - quote taken from the Beeb's report on the match:
"I was struggling physically in the second set - it was hot, but that's not an excuse," said Murray.
"My legs were feeling tired. It was the conditions. I need to get stronger. This is the first tough match I've played for five or six weeks. I need to get some more endurance in me before the US Open."
Eh, I don't know what tosh Andy is talking about here
Do you take a magic potient to get stronger and find endrance ? No, it is something you work at over a much longer time, and I was slightly taken to task recently for just saying I hoped he had been putting in hard work since the Davis Cup. because err everyone knows Andy works hard, well except for a notable period last year after he Aussie open
Anyway, to me you certainly shoudn't be putting in a lot of hard pjysical work in the week before a Slam but working more on aspects of your game ( like service ! ) I really do hope something is lost in translation here, though I presume he was taking in English !
Anyway, let's just hope he has been putting in the work and that it was actually simply the heat having more effect than even he himself realises. He does generally say some strange things at times
Re the final itself, hopefully Andy can put in a good display including serving better and indeed last the pace, but I do see Djokovic winning it in straight sets.
It's good anyway that he's got so many matches in this week, and in tough conditions, and that will do him much more good physicallywise than anything else he's thinking about for next week.

I'll leave you to work out where I'm going with this countdown, though it's a little worrying that if it continues today as we hope, it would imply they are never going to play each other again after that ...

Yeah I was a bit confused by that, but if you read it as needs more endurance in the heat/to get stronger in the heat then it is something he can fix before the US Open without too much more training, just by doing any training he has planned out in the heat of the day and/or turning down the air con in the hotel!

FWIW Barry Cowan also thought it was tosh and something that a lot of players just say when actually it's their game that hasn't been as good as they'd have liked. But obviously Andy's not going to analyse his game on tv.
I make it Andy into his 8th Masters final, with a 6 - 1 record in the previous 7, including two wins against Djoko, his loss to to Djoko in the Rome Masters this year being in the semis SC
Andy's general up and down performances mean that I dont know that his SF preformance matters much today. I dont see him taking a set but hopefully he can surprise me.
