A win is a win I guess. Hey I predicted a win in straight sets, and it is rather nice yes to beat the Fishman
But that serve is worrying. I know I was joking a bit earlier. But it is just that ongoing worry, a lack of a consistent serve. In many ways, it has been his main issue over the years, although yes we discuss a lot such as his relative aggresion in matches ( and it is important that he tries to keep playing with a degree of aggression and doesn't revert back to passive Andy ).
The ATP Rioch Match Stats for the year show how poor he relatively is at winning service games this year, and how relatively awful he is at winning second serve points. His second serve stats are amazing ( 56th out of 63 folk, winning 48% of second serve points ) given what a good player he is ( indicating the serve in itself is even worse ). I think it really shows just that it is so relatively weak that he very rarely gets on the front foot in a rally with it even if it is not immediately absolutely seized upon. I think Simon showed this up particularly yesterday.
Sometimes his serve certainly does go better and Andy tends to chime that he served really well, when in truth it's more he's served well for him, and really means his first serve. After all these years, his second serve to me simply should be much better than it is.
Anyway, a little while since I've had one of my not infrequent serve moans
All the best in the final, Andy !

It certainly was a dramatic 2nd set even if not too good for the nerves, however Andy is in another Masters final which is obviously fantastic. Obviously though Andy needs to worrk on the serve and it would have been tougher if Fish was having a perfect day. Obviously conditions were brutal but still a bit of a concern that Andy said he was suffering early in the 2nd.
Great stuff - Andy in a Cincy Final again - the site of his first Masters win!!!
I would love it if he thumped Nole tomorrow; someone needs to stop Djoko in his tracks and Andy does have the talent and determination (but not always the mindset) to do it.
