It had its problems (not least the interminable arguments about Scottishness, for want of a better word), but was still thriving as far as I could see (e.g. they have around 50 people for their block booking for the next DC tie at Braehead and were still one of the biggest BOTB teams), and was run almost entirely by volunteers since they stopped it being an 'official' forum a year or two ago. This seems to have come completely out of the blue and a completely unwarranted kick in the teeth for mods like Sally who put an enormous amount of work into it.
I guess they must have some reasons for doing this, but it seems like a shocking way to treat some of the Murrays' most loyal fans.
Not quite sure why my Twitter feed hasn't erupted with tweets about this yet, perhaps it only happened in the last few minutes.
P.S. I've changed the title of this thread to make it obvious which forum it is referring to.

Can't believe they did it without warning - years worth of posts and data gone. I'm sure the members could easily have clubbed together to keep it going on a different url (and probably done a better job too)
PS - oh and what happened to my post on the subject? - i protest in the strongest terms about the rediculous moderation on this site

Since the new lot took over this year they have shown absolutely no interest in maintaining the forum, but I absolutely can't believe they would do it in this manner Especially with all the effort put in by the hard working volunteers for the past years.
Sorry, but the time has come to absolutely bombard Andy, Judy & Jamie with tweets about this - if we offer to take control of the forum hopefully common sense will prevail
Yes, what has irked me is that there was no warning. If the admin had put up an announcement a few days prior stating what will happen at least we could have gone to another forum. It's not that hard to setup a free forum. But now they have done this I have lost touch with all my e-friends (I don't care if that sounds sad.Lol).I genuinely hope they at least had the decency to tell all the moderators or at least communicate and say thank you.
Cutting the forum from official last year was blatantly a setup for this next step. Andy's new team seem keen for him to go 'Hollywood' on us. Well, screw them then! I shall still follow Andy's matches, but the livescore following and analysing after matches is what engaged me with him. Now it will be just looking a result and not communicating with anyone about my thoughts on it.
Awful decision. But, evidently, his new Lewis Hamilton and David Beckham management people don't give a %$*£ about that.

It's not about setting up a new forum - it's about the thousands and thousand of threads now lost without warning, many of which were carefully copied across from the old, old forum by the mods in an attempt to preserve the archive. The mods appear to be as much in the dark as everybody else.
The utter contempt shown to Andy's fans by the new regime is breathtaking
Hello - and apologies to BT.net if this isn't an appropriate place.
I just want to say that I'm so sad that such a fantastic group of fans have been treated so badly by others who had no concept of the good done by his fan forum.
If peeps were that unhappy they could have chucked off the mods (including me, I don't count) but to deprive a load of other very dedicated Andy/Jamie fans the chance to get together is beyond comprehension. What a way to shoot themselves in the foot.
I had better not say any more for now.
We will keep it together ....... and not give up on supporting Andy!!! We'll try to come up with a way of staying in touch as a group and keeping the information flowing as we always did on am.com.
Davis Cup will still go ahead and I've emailed everyone that I have details for to advise.
Anyone who needs to contact me for any reason whatsoever please do so by email to andymurrayfanforum@hotmail.com.
More later - I've got a lot on my plate right now. Not least how to get hold of a few people who will be getting very worried about their DC tickets.
Take care Sallydaisy (Daisy on this forum)

Well I'm very sad - so much so that it's driven me to register on this forum (which I've been reading for years, and found a great source of info, but never bothered to register). I didn't post huge amounts on Andy's forum, but thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it, and reading what others had to offer. So many people put in so much hard work - not least when it all changed recently and people had logging in problems. I don't use facebook or twitter and shall miss the virtual company during Andy's matches - in fact I'd just put the computer on to watch his match, and thought I'd have a quick look here to see what was going on. Couldn't really believe it. Really mean to do it without notice too. Wonder what "they" were thinking and whether they realise how many people will miss it...
Wow ! Whatever the reasons for closing the forum, as far as I can see there is no excuse whatsoever for doing it so suddenly without warning, and folk are quite right to be upset that they haven't been able to discuss / make future plans with others, indeed some seem hardly to have had a chance to think how they'll kee in touch with each other. It looks to me like pretty stinky behavior from whoever is responsible, and folk would be quite right to pass their feelings on, whether it has to be through Judy and the bros or whatever. Terrible way to treat what seem to be many really good people.
Anyway, here we still have an Andy Murray section but we don't actually discuss Andy nearly as much as we once did. Much as he's recently been doing my head in as some of my posts would show, I still have a huge interest in Andy, do so will him to do well, and enjoy discussing his merits and demerits with others. So anyone that wants to join up here and start increasing the Muzza chat again I am sure would be more than welcome.
But maybe you can salvage things and pick things up as a group again, which I can understand is what many would want. Whatever, best wishes.
Well, Steven has been kind enough to offer us a temporary 'corner' if need be and I'd like to take him up on that so we have somewhere to run the competitions we had going. You might see a bit more activity in the AndyMurray section ......
I agree that what is most shocking about what has happened today is the way they have closed it down with no notice, made posts/threads that a lot of people put a lot of effort into vanish overnight (how about all the photo-blogs, for example - many of the people who wrote them probably haven't copied them elsewhere, assuming they would always be there), messed up people running ongoing competitions (e.g. the FTM they had on there and other things that went on year round) and apparently not even warned the mods, which is so utterly unforgiveable after all the work they have put in that it beggars belief.
They've also shafted people like Sally, who has always undertaken the (frankly pretty thankless) task of getting that rabble organised for DC ties and is now going to have even more work getting in touch with lost souls wondering what is going on whom she used to pm and maybe does not have email addresses for.
This all stinks of 19's new dumbing down approach (i.e. concentrating on Facebook, where very little interaction between fans or long-term discussion is possible), but the Murrays do employ this people, so it's hard to imagine that they didn't have a say in this, which makes no sense given how friendly they have always seemed to be to all the fans on that forum.

I was thinking, you could always take entries, etc, on twitter (or however people are keeping in touch) and just publish results here so that people don't have to register on this forum if they don't want to ... or even take over the threads for the Murray matches for a bit, not least because I get the impression that one of the reasons why the Murray match threads on her tend to be so sparse despite so many of us being fans is that quite a few people from here used to go over to AM.com for Andy's matches in much the same way that some AM.commers with a wider interest in GB tennis have been known to post here.
I don't think many people on here would want this to become AM.com mark 2 any more than you would want us to 'poach' AM.com members if you have any plans to get the AM forum back (or an AM.com Mk 2 forum up and running) - this forum has a far broader emphasis, which is probably why (unlike AM.com & MW, say), AM.com and BT have always got on pretty well instead of trying to compete with each other!
Equally, I hope nobody here will mind me offering some temporary space to Sally without asking around first when I don't actually run this place - it seemed like the decent thing to do for a friendly forum under the circumstances!
We're a very tolerant bunch, but (needless to say) if any of the AM.com trolls come and post here (something tells me they won't, they've probably crawled back into their MW holes by now, their job done), we won't be nearly as tolerant as the AM mods were.

Steven would you mind if I continued the Cincinnati bubble gap comp in a new thread on here? I don't know how many people will see it but at least it might help my sanity!
