The first of these National Championships is the under 14s with the team who represented us at the World Junior Tennis finals (Lana Rush, Maia Lumsden and Jazzi Plews) all taking part

Unfortunately Lana continues to be troubled by injury seemingly, and retired today. The third section with Anna Brogan, Ceire Mullins and Jasmine Amber Asghar looks to be the most intriguing

Will be interesting to see how Plews does. I believe she's a year younger than most in the draw.

Both Maia and Jazzi are 1998s and both have coasted through to the quarters for the loss of a handful of games

Jazzi continued in the same vein today, but Maia suffered a shock 6-1 6-1 defeat by Millie Stretton

Anna Brogan is on a roll having won a Tennis Europe Grade 1 tournament last week, and having emerged from the competitive third section of the draw she ended Jazzi Plews' hopes today

The under 12s have reached the quarter-finals with a big clash between Katie Swan and Anastasia Mikheeva at this stage (they use LTA ratings rather than realistic rankings, so Anastasia is only seeded 7)

Anastasia squeaked through 2-6 7-5 6-4, whilst Georgie Axon continued to make serene progress in the bottom half of the draw.


The main draw for the under 16s (which start Wednesday) is out, with Portugal finalist Harriet Dart and National under 18 finalist Beth Askew as top seeds
