I can understand where as fans we might wish to see "our" players win ... but look at the reality. Both boys were playing contestants whose senior rankings are higher than theirs -- treat this as a Futures, and the results wouldn't really come as a surprise. Could a fully fit Mr Golding have beaten Mr Kubler? One's inclined to say yes. He did last year and probably could this year. But it's been a rough week. Mr Morgan was playing a fine player and GS finalist. Mr Morgan is making adjustments to his game; right now he's not winning a lot. So this was a tall order. In the longer term, we wait to see what happens. Any kid who's 18 is a work in progress. For some it will work; for some it won't. Mr Golding and Mr Morgan both show signs that they could be ones for whom it will work. More power to their elbow. And all power to Mr Broady tomorrow, with his singles against Vesely and two sets of doubles.
Just really hope now that Liam can repeat his Roehampton win vs Vesely.
I do see what Spector was saying, as I wrote this, I guess it's also partly as so often a numbers thing. We were really looking to 3 players, Liam, Oli and George ( perhaps Kyle but asking a lot ), so if issues with two of them then it's going to be difficult.
