7-6(3), 6-3

Very impressive so far. Clearly prefers playing with the roof open.

Kubot has 2 set lead against Lopez.

There could be 2 qualifiers in the last 8.

Very, very good. Certainly one of his best ever matches at Wimbledon.

Another 4th round loss for Gasquet. Now 1-9.

Very efficient last two sets from Andy, after a rather tentative unsure first set, which I think can be argued was a bit of a steal, but he did play the tiebreak well.

Didn't look huge mental strength from Gasquet after losing that first set, but Andy certainly played very well at times.

First serve was working well re aces / unreturnables and % in not bad ( for Andy anyway when he was certainly going for his first seve  ) at 60%.  Second serve seemed there to be hit a bit ( as per not unusual ) but Gasquet was very peculiar in only at times even being ready to go after it, at other times standing back.

As Andy said himself, he could of returned better. Certainly for a returner like him there seemed to be too many times he had a good hit on the ball and it netted or went out.

But overall that was pretty good, and the last two sets, however Gasquet was playing, certainly Andy's best at Wimbledon this year.

1st set tie break.

Bernard Tomic has thrashed Malisse to reach the Quarter Finals.

I think he is the first qualifier to do so since Vladimir Voltchkov in 2000

I was impressed with Tomic at Notts, seemed to have an extra 0.5 second on the ball, a real talent.

Poor from Gasquet but I'll take it, Andy looking good for at least the semis so can't grumble.

Strange, I was much more worried before the Looby Loo match. A bit on edge during the first set - I haven't seen Gasquet play recently but I kept hearing how he was playing much better and much better mentally. However, after the first set, I was able to just sit back, relax, and applaud. Nice one, Muzza.

According to the BBC he is the 4th youngest Wimbledon quarter finalist of all time. Just 3 guys called Borg, Becker and McEnroe who were younger.

Lopez and Kubot currently 5-5 in the 5th after well over 4 hours.

From Andy's perspective that is fantastic. For Ferrer and Tsonga who are still waiting to get on court it is very annoying.

Lopez finally comes through 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5, 7-5

Matches like that take a lot out of players both physically and mentally so I really like Andy's chances on Wednesday.

By my calculation,  they were on court for a total of four hours & 18 minutes, Andy for just two hours & four minutes! wink
