That's 20 wins from their last 25 matches for Rice & Thornley - and probably their best win yet Not fazed by Battistone's odd racket and serve!

Really pleased for David & Sean.  Doubles QR2:

Alessandro Motti & Stéphane Robert (ITA/FRA) vs (WC) David Rice & Sean Thornley

Motti & Robert have just done for the q3s, Emmrich & Siljeström, in two tie-breaks, so will be no pushovers...

I maybe be a bit late on this, but I thought Ricey (aka Dr No..not sure why ) and Sean had got a MDWC for the MDs. I certainly told everybody at Nottingham that I bumped into that this was indeed the case. Everybody I told were very happy for the two and pleasantly surprised, and I now I find out they never got one.
IMCONFUSED.

Phil, there's been a fair amount oif discussion re Rice and Thornley and their WC prospects in the last few weeks and clearly more in the last week or so.

I haven't seen anyone on the forum who ventured a particular opinion re them that didn't think they should have got a MD WC  ( though I am aware that some have more generally said they thought the LTA should stick to their WR 250 and presumably doubles combined WR 500 recommendation targets )

But I have never seen or heard anywhere any suggestion that they had got a MD WC, and Sean tweeted last week that they were not on the original MD WC list. Strange one.

PS :  Eaton & Goodall got one of the five MD WCS. I don't know who ultimately got the others.  Anyone ?

Thanks Indy, in a mad rush last week I've clearly got the wrong end of the stick. That doesn't change the fact that they should have got one, given the situation with the 2 Dan's.

Why is Ricey known as Dr No ? James Bond ?

Thanks. Yes, I have just read elsewhere that Delgado/Marray and Fleming/Hutchins were original WCs though they appear to now be direct entries re

I had memories of this being discussed rather inconclusively some time ago, and a little use of "search" brough up pages 5 & 6 here.  James Bond does indeed get a mention ( I searched on Dr No James Bond ), but it is also indeed a bit inconclusive
