RE: Week 23 - ATP 250 - Queens (Grass)

Yeah, fair enough.

He's not contracted right now and given he's gone deep here, we can rule out the possibility.

i thought I did read somewhere that he intended to play an exhibition match at Boodles but his plans may have changed following the ankle problem and a good week at Queen's.

Murray takes the first set 6-3.

Roddick got 91% of first serves in but Murray out aced him 10 to 2

Andy (M wink ) virtually irresistible:  wins by 3 & 1. smile  So, the first half of the dream all-Brit final in place... biggrin  That said, I suspect it's just not going to happen, though I'd love to be proved wrong.

All I can say is wow. That has to be up there with Andy's best ever performances. He tore the Roddick game to shreds

6-3, 6-1 biggrin

Brilliant from Murray today - everything went right. Roddick must have been feeling pretty despondant at the amount of times he came to the net only to watch Murray's shots fly past him.

That was great to watch - but what was Roddick thinking trying to play the game that best favours Andy M.

When it's all about finesse and dinky little slices Andy M will win every time.

Couldn't believe my ears when Castle says to Sue Barker - "some of the crowd had a bit too much to drink and were calling James Ward "Jamie" last night" 20 minutes after doing it himself on commentary during Andy's match.

Ah, but at least those of us who are dependent on the Beeb (terrestrial/Freeview channel 301) aren't actually paying for the (& I use the term advisedly) pleasure. wink  I agree that Castle & Co can be annoying, but it's really not that difficult to ignore their words of (non-)wisdom.

Great performance by Andy smile

Much more effective first serve today than Roddick's when it went in, although clearly he himself is a much better returner.  Good to see him really go for some returns today, since sometimes I think he has such good anticipation and hand / eye coordination that he actually has time to do more than he does on return, particularly on second serves.  OK, he's still up there as a great returner anyway but just good to see him going for more when it was in the hitting zone ( and he was in the zone ! ).

Overall 1st serve in % about Andy's average at 54% but as was said in commentary Roddick not one to step around and really punish his second serve so with his very good first serving ( when in ) today he was always going to control his service games.  Serving well will be important to his overall success in the coming weeks.

Good focus, although he didn't have to focus for too long wink  In one game he started talking to himself a bit and looking up when a couple of shots fell below his high standard, and I was like -  don't !

Roddick certainly was not at his best today, but take nothing away from Muzza, that was very good  smile
