Ugly first set. Wind is making life difficult. Bolelli lost his nerve when serving for the set, making a series of horrible backhand errors then played really well to save 2 set points later on. Tiebreak was a mess with a couple of comical drop shots that got nowhere near their intended target making it 1-1 before Andy got ahead and stayed ahead throughout to take it 7-3. Final point a superb backhand down the line winner but otherwise the vast majority of the points in the later stages of the set had been won or lost by Bolelli.
2nd set slightly more comfortable, though he did give back an early break through double faults. Lovely sliced backhand lob winner in the final game of the set.

Phew that was hard work. I can see why none of the predictions I read had Murray getting to the Semi's. You feel like he could lose or beat anyone in the draw depending on how he feels.
And Andy takes the third set by 7-5 (two service breaks to one!) to wrap up the match. We'll know whom he'll face in the third round (Clément or Berrer) after the final match on Court 1 (women's singles match still in progress there at the moment).
Job done again. Not pretty, but a straight sets win nevertheless. I seem to remember his last meeting with Bolelli on clay was a bit of a tussle, wasn't it?
Not particularly good at all from Andy today and certainly helped by Bolelli being unable to seize the moments to serve for sets.
BUT it was a difficult day with the wind and slower conditioons. I kind of thought when I saw this it might be a pretty tough day at the office and it was, and the important thing was really just to get the job done and move on. This he did, and I am not particularly more encouraged or discouraged by this match.
Stupidy of the day - step forward Andrew Castle - going on at one changeover about how Andy's half of the draw would be totally different if Nadal wasn't in it and Andy would otherwise probably be favourite for his half. Yeah, Andrew, what a bum deal having to have one oif the top 2 seeds and one of the top 2 players in the world in his half. Jeez !
Given the problems the two favourites in the women's draw are having today (Clijsters already out, Shazza looking like she's about to follow), any kind of straight sets win has to be good in these weather conditions!

Murray plays his R32 against German, Michael Berrer WR 95, who took out Arnaud Clement in 4 sets and amazingly potential QF opponent Jurgen Melzer (8) has been knocked out in 5 sets by Lukas Rosol!
So instead of Melzer's section looking like
Almagro v F.Mayer
Melzer v Anderson
It now looks like:
Kubot v Falla
Chela v Rosol
Meaning one of them will reach the QF! Great scenes!
If Murray gets past Berrer he will face off against either 16th seed Troicki or 21st seed Dolgopolov

Andy's match vs Michael Berrer is second on Suzanne Lenglen, after Ni La vs Cirstea ( which starts at 11 am local, 10 am BST ) and before the completion of the Djokovic vs Del Potro match.

The big choice of the day .... Eurosport or the BBC?
The BBC has no ads, which is a massive advantage, especially given the weird and not-so-wonderful ads that Eurosport shows. (Visit Kazakhstan? Do me a favour ... Wozniacki flies Turkish Airlines, yeah right .... The close-up of Federer's face ... yeeeurgh!)
BUT ...
the BBC has the massive disadvantage of the John Lloyd/Sam Smith commentary team. Those awful flat drony voices. The toe-curlingly dreadful "banter". The cliche-ridden and yawn-inducing pontifications on the state of British tennis. But mainly the TOTAL INABILITY TO SAY ANYTHING REMOTELY INTERESTING!!!!!!
You only have to listen to Mats Wilander on Eurosport to realise how tennis commentary could and should be done.
So I think I'll stay with Eurosport HD.
