ps. so does that mean they played twice in 1 day then? or did the coach just get ahead of himself?

Checking the schedule, getting ahead of himself seems to be the answer - I can't find an OoP on the site but the plan for the week says QFs today.

For future reference oops and match stats for most French junior tournaments are available via the French Tennis Federation website. Today's oop is at http://www.tj.fft.fr/EvMenuJ.asp?CodeEvent=1011181306&DateProg=2011/04/22

As he was playing on Court Central match stats for Liam's lucky escape should appear later today by clicking on the match score at http://www.tj.fft.fr/EvMenuJ.asp?CodeEvent=1011181306&NumDraw=3

The scores are up, though the link to match stats for Liam's match isn't working at present. Liam won 6-7(2) 7-6(0) 2-0 rtd. Next up he has a chance to avenge Luke's defeat to the in-form Frenchman, who has won through 3 tight matches

SF

(4) Liam Broady (GBR) v (14) Enzo Couacaud (FRA)

SF :  (4) Liam Broady (GBR)  beat  (14) Enzo Couacaud (FRA)   6 - 7 (5)   6 - 1   3 - 0  RET

Liam seems to be grinding folk into submission though that result from the ITF site has the final set going one game more than Liam tweeted

F  :   (4) Liam Broady (GBR)  vs  Maciej Smola (POL)

Smola beat  (1) Mate Pavic (CRO)  6 - 3   7 -5  in the other semi final.

Might be a record for total number of British victories by retirement or walkover in a week (singles/doubles). Winning the title would be a big plus, given that Liam hasn't got a big singles title yet. The one time he played Smola before on clay he lost in straights, so hope he learned from that.

should put liam 17th in the rankings come monday, still not his career high, but looking good in juniors as well as seniors right now. on to bournemouth next week!!

looking foward to the junior slams this year, morgan , golding, broady, all should think they have a chance of a slam, as well as edmund the suprise package lurking

An excellent week from Liam - I mean, if you're going 'waste' time on junior events, you might as well win them smile.gif

Juan-Carlos Ferrero won this event in 1997, 6 years before he won the title at Roland Garros. A host of lesser players have won it too, many of whom went on to make it into the top 100.

Well played Liam, certainly the standout performer amongst the juniors this year and probably the seniors as well.
