Our top 94/95s are out in force for the climax on the Riviera, with Kyle Edmund and Luke Bambridge joining Liam and Katy. Appropriately for Easter week Kyle is in a religious section of the draw, with Constantin Christ a possible opponent in round 2, and Gonzalo Lama (who he lost to in Paraguay) the first seed he is scheduled to play.
Whether anyone whispered conspiratorially or not Luke got the win comfortably yesterday. Liam is up against his doubles partner. Luke and Kyle team up as sixth seeds
Boys R1 (L64)
Luke Bambridge (GBR) d. (WC) Alexandre Massa (FRA) 6-3 6-2
R2
Constantin Christ (GER) v (6) Kyle Edmund (GBR) Vullnet Tashi (SUI) v (4) Liam Broady (GBR) (14) Enzo Couacaud (FRA) v Luke Bambridge (GBR)
A solid start for Kyle in both singles and doubles
Boys R2
(6) Kyle Edmund (GBR) d. Constantin Christ (GER) 6-3 7-6(2) Vullnet Tashi (SUI) v (4) Liam Broady (GBR) (14) Enzo Couacaud (FRA) v Luke Bambridge (GBR)
thinking about it , luke might need a big week here to sneak into french open qualies, obviously kyle and luke are well in, and pushing for a seeding
Luke has two chances, this week and next (in Italy) to gain points before the entry deadline. Last year the cut for qualifying was 91, so he's not far off.
Unfortunately it was a tough loss for Luke, against last week's finalist, failing to convert 6 matchpoints (5 in the second and 1 in the third set). As all interest in doubles ended Luke's chances of Roland Garros qualifying haven't been enhanced here.
Liam had a comfortable win, but faces the winner of one of the previous French Grade 2s next. Katy suffered a very disappointing loss.

yessss, well done. liam had a suprise loss last week, just like kyle has this week. there will always be results like that following these young players. so nothing to worry about for kyle.
