Great stuff, and completes a very good start to the year for the younger Brits. It's particularly impressive that they found a way to come through close ties and that Jonny was able to win despite the injury problem.
Greg seems to do a great job captaining the 16U teams too, what with this and that good run in junior DC a year or two ago. This might take the edge of the fact that on Monday, he will no longer be the highest-ranked player ever while playing for Canada. LOL

well that really depends on how you want to measure "strongest"
If you're saying the team wasnt the strongest based on european ranking well its hard to disagree but for me that's more about the problem of looking at ranking as any real meaningful measure of young, developing players. Once past the age of say 18 then sure ranking/rating whatever is a generally reliable measure of ability but before then there are simply too many other variables involved. OK Im biased but Jonny was probably the lowest ranked player in qualies and main, yet was unbeaten(injury withdrawal excepted) playing every match possible except one doubles. There were also some great doubles performances from the boys where of course its as much down to the chemistry/balance of a pairing than individual ranking or perceived ability. so again difficult to measure "strongest". Just my tuppence worth!
agree though PhilW great to see some promising depth and the 95 year has looked good for a while with around 6 boys or so capable of great results on their day
Poor Phil, he recently spoke up re Ashley and Sapwell in the 1996 boys and ran into Stoute senior. Now he kinda refers to the missing ( no doubt in particular Edmund and Bambridge ) 1995 boys and runs into domara
Must admit I did have the same thoughts as Phil here, but whatever I think we are all agreed all credit to Jonny and Chris and may they continue to really progress and that overall we just hope to end up with a great batch of 1995 boys.

Hi Indiana- just enjoying the debate on a balanced forum-its great! wasnt meant to sound anything other than my views-if it sounded like a"run-In with me for phil" then my apologies. I'm a psychologist and just cant resist a little debate now and then-especially on language, which is my thing and keeps me on my toes!. Phil rightly said "a remarkable performance" and you "hope to end up with a great batch of 95's". I'll second that without any arguement!. Onwards and upwards
No offence taken domara, who knows if we had of played the likes of Edmund and Bambridge we may have not won given that the doubles was so key this week. Whatever the strongest team is, we still won and that is something to be very proud about.
domara wrote:Jonny could have got back to edinburgh airport this morning without the help of Boeing!!! But back to school and everyday life for a while
BTW he says thanks for all the support and he enjoyed tweeting but will look at the overuse of the S in future
I think if all the Brits were that good at tweeting their results and conveying their excitement, we'd forgive them a few extra ssssss!
