On the wider question we have perhaps got used to an unsustainable level of junior success in recent years, with at least 2 boys and/or girls in each of the 1992-1996 years who could be regarded as top 10 or thereabouts within their year at some stage during their junior career. This compares very favourably with the previous 5 years. But the occasional fallow year is almost inevitable (Italy have had a fair amount of junior success recently, and they don't have anyone in the TE14 top 20s currently either), and if that turns out to be the case with 1997s (there's still time for a late developer of course) then I wouldn't add that to the things to criticise the LTA about. I'd rather be thankful that they have got something right, and monitor whether or not they convert a reasonable proportion of these to Tour level players over the next few years.
