Murray will face Ferrer who demolished an injured Nadal.

Is that a night time match?

Obviously no one wanted to see Nadal go out because of injury but it presents Andy with a glorious opportunity. Obviously Ferrer is a very good player but if on a hard court you have to like Andy's chances.

It was probably a good thing to be pushed to a fourth set today. Sometimes progress can be too easy.

Yes, the semi finals and final are night matches -

Murray/Ferrer wins/losses -

2010 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals London, England Hard RR Murray, Andy 6-2, 6-2

2010 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Madrid Spain Clay Q Ferrer, David 7-5, 6-3

2010 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Rome Italy Clay R16 Ferrer, David 6-3, 6-4

2006 ATP Masters Series Canada Toronto, Canada Hard R64 Murray, Andy 6-2, 7-6(6)

2006 Barcelona Spain Clay R32 Ferrer, David 4-6(5), 7-6, 6-1

So basically hard = Murray wins, clay = Ferrer wins. Fingers crossed the pattern repeats itself.

In 2007 Ferrer reached semis of US Open losing 4-6 4-6 3-6 to Djokovic. Nerves could play a big part in this contest.

Andy should beat Ferrer if anywhere near his Melzer form and I'm beginning to regret not taking the 5/1 odds about him winning the whole thing yesterday.

Federer 6/5(45% implied chance)
Murray 2/1(33%)
Djokovic 9/2(18%)
Ferrer 18/1 (5%)

Which means a best price book of about 102% so not much adjustment other than for liabilities needed to give a true indication.

Djokovic IMO is very good value, but I hope he loses vs Fed despite that costing me money.

Cripes, the crowd on Rod Laver are in for a treat tomorrow: Bahrami & Pioline vs Cash & Wilander.

My sides are splitting just thinking about it. That old dude catching the ball in his pocket. A ballkid being forced to play a point.

What a shame Henri Leconte isn't playing too, with his "I'm a sex god even though I'm 70" hilarious routine. Maybe he will make a guest appearance.

I hope that the BBC will show this highlight.

And why not extend the principle to other sports? England 1966 squad vs Germany 1966 squad to get the crowd excited before the Champions League final?

They tried that (sort of) and threw in a few celebs, which led to the most infamous tackle in recent football history

^^^

The annoying thing about that it sidelines the "real" doubles to a lesser court.

I don't know why they put these stupid senior events on. The tournament should be about the ELITE.

A lot of people like to watch them. My daughter does (shudder - where did I go wrong in her upbringing?) Actually I liked them the first time I saw them - it gets boring after that.

So who would people rather see in the final Federer or Djokovic.

I have a feeling that Andy would be better off playing Federer.

NB: Not taking anything for granted about the SF

Thats an interesting call.
I'd still go with the Djoker eventhough there's not a huge amount to choose between the two.
I just think Andy would be more comfortable playing against his good mate, and Novak has said he would like to see Andy lifting a GS title sooner rather than later. Fed would still provide the greater mental obstacle IMO.
