AFAICS Verena Jane Scott is the only British player in ITF Junior main draw action this week (the main North America circuit finale with Oliver Golding, George Morgan et al starts next week). Like Laura Deigman she roves the world to play tournaments, and won the doubles in Qatar earlier in the year, but has only one singles quarter-final to her name. One more win here would see that tally double.

Do young players like Verena fund travel/expenses themselves?
The funding of junior players comes from a number of sources. 25 elite players are well catered for as part of the Team Aegon scheme. Others who have achieved particular targets are accepted for LTA Matrix funding or the AEGON Futurestars scheme, and sometimes can supplement this by sponsorship schemes. Although I don't know about VJS's funding it is extremely unlikely that any of these sources would cover more than a fraction of her travel/expenses to far-flung parts of the world. Hence I expect it will be down mainly to family funding.
Meanwhile she has made her second QF

Verena Jane's attempt at a maiden semi ended sadly in retirement, but she has reached the doubles final. Whether she will be able to take part remains to be seen.
