Eleanor Dean appears to have recovered, after her retirement in last week's final, and is top seed here. Her opening match is against a 1997 girl who beat Katy Dunne in the summer. Another 1997 girl Kyra Akinnibi, who recently became the youngest ever finalist in a British Tour event, has done very well to qualify here - beating the 3rd ranked TE14 girl.

Given the serve speeds she showed 6 months ago at Wimbledon, I'd imagine Eleanor would simply overpower most opponents at a G5. I still can't get over her being 10% faster than Serena & Nadal on 2nd serve, and beating Venus on the day for 1st serve.

Eleanor should indeed have too much for this field - and progresses smoothly to the quarters. Her toughest opponent is likely to be Yana Morderger's twin sister Tayisiya who she beat 7-5 in the third in a previous Luxemburg tournament. The pair will meet in the semis again if they win their next matches.

I would actually say her toughest opponents will be her next opponent, Korashvili, and her doubles partner, Siniakova, both of whom she lost to quite easily in the Tennis Europe Winter Cup in February. Something tells me her last meeting with Tayisiya Morderger was not indicative of what to expect in future meetings.
Eleanor wasn't wasting any time today, winning 3 bagel sets in singles and doubles. As THarris suggested her struggle last time wasn't indicative (perhaps the change of surface was a factor)

Great results. I wonder if she will play in Casablanca at new years. A top 200 ranking is usually enough to make the main draw there and an excellent chance to get some big points.
