Monaco beats Melzer in three.

H2H is 1-1. Both last year, Andy won on hard and Juan on clay. Got to fancy Andy here, looks like he is improving again and can't be too tired after the last couple of weeks.

Great news. Melzer would have been a trick opponent but you have think Andy should beat Monaco.

Yes, got to fancy Andy to win in straight sets against Monaco.

Re The Tsonga match, with Andy's good play and Tsonga's err not so good, the games overall seem to have been very uncompetitive.

The results show Andy lost only 8 points on serve and the there were only 81 overall points in the match ( Andy winning 54 - 27 ).  That's a point over averaging 5 points a game, i.e. games being won on average to 15.

Federer has just thrashed Soderling 6-1, 6-1.

That gauruntees that Andy will extend his ranking lead over Soderling to at least 660 points.

Fed beats Sod  6  - 1   6  - 1, adding To Andy's  6 - 2  6  - 2 win and Novak's  6 - 2  6  - 3  win,  the 3 matches taking a grand total of  2 hours 54 minutes.

Lucky the Monaco vs Melzer match by itself lasted  2 hours 49 minutes to give the crowd some singles competitiveness  hmm.gif

Let's hope tomorrow follows a similar patern with Andy winning easily while Fed and Djokovic run each other into the ground.

Andy wins the first set 6-4. He was broken to 30 serving for the set at 5-3 but played one excellent defensive point in the tenth game, returning a series of smashes, which unhinged the Argentinian who then made a series of UEs

Won 6-4 6-1 - never in doubt after that one point in game 10 which Monaco failed to recover from

Andy wins 6-4 6-1. Never looked in any danger, in spite of throwing away the game when serving for the first set.

I doubt he will have such an easy time tomorrow!
