Andy wins 6-3 6-4. Pretty comfortable. What does that make the GEM-bashing streak?
Ignoring a walkover given to Gasquet, that'll be up to 26 and counting in the GEM bashing streak. Tsonga last GEM to beat him on court in the Aussie Open in 2008 and of course that's who Andy could meet next.
Nice to see Andy mathematically securing his O2 place, no doubt slightly quicker due to the fallabilities of Verdasco and Youzhny in 9th and 10th places.
Edit : got to be sharp to be in before Steven, I shouldn't have typed so much

He seemed to be feeling much better today - but Jo-Willi looked as though he was really struggling with various niggles. Well done to him for sticking it out instead of retiring.
I've got a bad feeling about the Tsonga match, I could see the GEM run ending here.
Not to be - Andy wins convincingly 62 62
Much better from Andy today though Tsonga was poor. Match played outdoors today.
Good stuff, stupid feeling Especially good that folk are saying Andy played much better.
He was quoted in paper as saying he'd been ill a couple of times between the US Open and coming out to China and not managed to put much work in. I always think Andy is best having put in good work and practice. But certainly looking better, probably just with the matchplay he has had last week and this week.
Just a snippet of information for those who don't have SKY - there was an interview with Ashley Hewitt yesterday. He has been in Dubai pre-Shanghai for 10 days as practice partner for Federer. Organised by Paul Annacone. Great experience for him and judging by how well Fed is playing, the lad did well.
