And the qualifier Andy gets is Paul-Henri Mathieu; not one I would have preferred, but at least Andy leads the H2H 3-0. Maybe it is better than somebody he has never met before and doesn't know how they play.
I'm always wary of qualifiers - they have had plenty of experience of the courts and conditions, and Andy seems to have a lot of trouble with West > East jetlag, so it could be a tough match.
First match tomorrow, at 12.30 local time. I make that 5.30am - can somebody confirm, I'm notoriously bad at time conversions. Ouch, I doubt if I can get up in time to follow that - especially if it is only on livescore. I've seen the day when I have done it, but I'm getting soft in my old age.

Not so sure - Youzhny has never beaten him, Andy leads 2-0, while the H2H with Ljubicic is 3-2 to Andy. Marginally closer, though Ivan's wins were in 06 and 07 while Andy won both meetings last year.
Montanes has had an exceptional year, but he has been aided by a number of favourable draws especially away from clay. Not to take anything away from him, wins like beating Federer in Estoril have been impressive.
But the bare facts are in a long number of years on the ATP tour he has only beaten four top 50 players away from clay (Golubev this week by retirement, Hanescu twice with one by retirement and Serra who was exactly WR 50).
