Not only started but going downhill rapidly - perhaps yesterday's epic is to blame. Kyle beat Safranek in straight sets in the European Summer Cup qualifiers

CZECH REPUBLIC (5) level with GREAT BRITAIN (4) 1-1 Vaclav Safranek (CZE) d. Kyle Edmund (GBR) 60 61 Luke Bambridge (GBR) d. Marek Jaloviec (CZE) 62 76(3) Vaclav Safranek/Robin Stanek (CZE) v Luke Bambridge/Kyle Edmund (GBR)
Kyle's score very strange, clearly can be very very up and very very down. You might have thought they would have brought in Evan for the doubles after Kyle's result. Opportunity though to redeem himself.
Group C GREAT BRITAIN (4) defeated CZECH REPUBLIC (5) 2-1 Vaclav Safranek (CZE) d. Kyle Edmund (GBR) 60 61 Luke Bambridge (GBR) d. Marek Jaloviec (CZE) 62 76(3) Luke Bambridge/Kyle Edmund (GBR) d. Vaclav Safranek/Robin Stanek (CZE) 64 64
BRAZIL defeated INDIA 2-1 Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND) d. Pedro Dumont (BRA) 36 63 75 Thiago Monteiro (BRA) d. Ronit Bisht (IND) 62 63 Pedro Dumont/Thiago Monteiro (BRA) v Ronit Bisht/Arjun Kadhe (IND) 63 63

Good stuff. The doubles pairings listed on the ITF site were the original nominations, which can be changed up to a few minutes before, and clearly Evan was brought in given Kyle's singles struggle (utilising the advantage of a third player who won doubles titles with Luke last year). As Brazil beat India a 2-1 defeat could be enough tomorrow to make the semis, but hopefully we'll make sure without getting calculators out.
So Evan did play after all, seems a sensible decision, but what happens tomorrow. Will it be like last year when Ollie moved aside for Bettles for some of the matches.
If IND WIN and BRA lose then IND are through as they have a better head to head than GBR.
If IND WIN and BRA WIN then it comes down to
1) The number of matches won shall decide the winner. 2) If matches won are equal, the percentage of sets won of sets played against all teams in the pool shall decide the winner. 3) If percentage of sets won are equal, the percentage of games won of games played against all teams in the pool shall decide the winner.
GBR need to win one of the matches to at least get into 2. Then its too complicated for now
