Remarkably even the BBC managed a brief report within a few minutes.
Arn has become somewhat of a pain to top Brits in qualifying this year, stopping Bally in Rome and Anne in Warsaw. Unfortunately the MJMS defeat mentioned above is of no help, as it pushes Bally down below her and Jarmila Groth for any LL spots.
Laura will now have the chance to avenge Bally as she has drawn Arn in the Q v Q spot. They play second match on court 3 Sunday - the first being at 6am (Chang v Safarova)
I think the Aussie Open qualifying cut was pretty high last year though
A win tomorrow would seal it though - 70 more points on offer which would see Laura up to #177 on this weeks chart and put her back ahead of Heather in the GB #4 spot.

So another impressive performance from Laura, I make that five in a row now since a mini training block during the summer. Got a decent break from the weather for this match, as it was blowing a gale for the earlier matches, but calmed down alot just before kickoff. Certainly the slow start could be attributed to that. Got nervous towards the end, but got the job done.
Arn is a wily old veteran and Bally elluded to that in a post match tweet, which suggested that Arn came into the match with a specific tactic which worked to a treat. Arn should be too tough for Laura, surely it is too much to ask her to keep coming up with these high level performances. A ray of hope is that when Arn has met an up and coming junior she has beaten readily by both Halep and Stephens.
This is Laura's first opportunity to realistically get big ranking points 70 more to make a total of 100 which would see her comfortably in the top 200 come the end of the year. She would love a matchup against her pal Wozniacki, lets hope she gets her wish.
I'm including all 3 qualification matches at the US open, which ended up with defeat in the last one, but only due to nerves and her opponent using stalling tactics.
Ahh - in that case I agree (the junior matches were awful though)
Safarova - v Chang into a 3rd so Laura has time for more cupcakes. On that note I do worry about all the chat on junky high sugar, high refined food favourites of these girls. Definitely not good for them.
Am really looking forward to this match - no high expectations but oodles of hope
