Looking at the last post made me wonder (and since there are statisticians around, it seemed worth asking), when was the last time that a British boy (not named Murray) was seeded as high as 4 in a Grand Slam, be it either in singles or doubles? For that matter, I was assuming that the girls recently have been highly seeded, but is that accurate?

A long, long time I would suggest. Of course playing with a high seed in doubles does help.

Lee Childs & James Nelson were No.1 seeds in the Junior US Open in 2000.  And they won it.

Many thanks for the info and link. Interesting to look at the singles and doubles draws for that year and compare them with what has happened since. Lots of talent, isn't it, some of it realised almost immediately and some of it having taken a while to come to full potential. Quite heartening, in its own way.

interestingly, Baluda is one of the players they beat in the youth olympics final. Rumyantsev was ollie's partner at RG that got to the quarters
