roddick out in four sets, thought he would do well here. Federer starting to get a bit of a cakewalk draw to the final, only djok davy and sod any threat, and all look a bit dodgy
Not sure that having "only djok davy and sod" ( ranked 3, 6 and 5 in the world respectively ! ) in his half will give Fed any sort of cakewalk to the final if one or more finds the form that they are capable of. Possibly Sod in quarters and then Djokovic in the semis could turn out a task. In fact I think Rafa and Andy may have a safer route to the semis, though admittedly they could each then meet a potential hurdle
I agree that Djokovic and Sod have not looked great in their first match, ( but that is often the case with the top players ) and probably in the recent past too ( and Davydenko has never really done it on the biggest stage ) but only Roddick of the considered big dangers has dropped out of that half unless you very arguably count Baggy as well.

Andy finally gets a slightly later slot for his match against Dustin Brown tomorrow - immediately after Kim Clijsters (2) vs Petra Kvitova (27) on Arthur Ashe...
I was kind of expecting he might get the night match which so far has been in turn Federer, Nadal, Roddick and Djokovic, but it's Nadal again for his match vs Istomin.
Maybe get it for a possible match vs Wawrinka in R3. He played really well in a night match vs Wawrinka in 2008.
I see Andy was saying it was very windy on court in his R1 match, well looks like that may have been good practice !
The weather is looking very dodgy today, with the forecast being showers all afternoon. This could well mean no play for Andy, since it takes at least 30 minutes until after the rain has stopped to get the courts dry, by which time it is raining again ...
This could lead to the problematic situation that he will play 1 match in the first 5 days, and then have to play 6 matches in the next 9 days if he gets to the final.
The US Open, don't you just love it?
(But on the other hand, I think that beating Dustin Brown will be like a light training session, famous last words)

And of course they will be ruthless about making sure that the separate evening session with Venus Williams is given priority, so unless Andy has started by about 5 it will likely be postponed or (at best) put on another court.

To be fair ( if we must ) once you have a day and night session on the main court with separate crowds, it can cause difficulties.
I noticed on Tuesday, when Jankovic, Djokovic and Sharapova all went long that it was getting on to near 8 pm when the first night match started.
Sharapova must have started quite a bit after 5 pm and then played virtually a 2 hour match. Once you get everyone out and the new crowd in etc time does move on. If you let a men's match go on after 5 pm, you would be risking the night session being more than 2 hours late kicking off, so I agree, I'm guessing they wouldn't do it.
Ideally, if there was a problem, I'm sure Andy would prefer to move to play the match today though I note that there are 2 men's and 2 women's singles matches scheduled for both Louis Armstrong and Grandstand so couldn't imagine he could get on either of these particularly early.
But yes, some of the US scheduling you just have to love NOT, most particularly the TV orientated men's semis on Saturday followed by final on Sunday. Oh, when will we schedule them not to have a day's break, ah yes, before a hugely important Grand Slam Final !
Sometimes they can be inflexible too, one if their more infamous ***-ups being far too late in moving the Murray vs Nadal 2008 semi to Louis Armstrong when everyone else knew that there was horrendous weather coming in and there was zilch chance of completing both semis on Arthur Ashe.

Actually I don't have a problem with that scheduling arrangement. It is the same for both players so no one gains a major advantage.
Besides if you can't handle playing back to back five set matches on consecutive days I don't think you deserve to win a Grand Slam.
Interestingly long range forecast for next Saturday indicates 60% of thunderstorms, another Monday finish surely not.
Indy on Tuesday night Nadal started at 8.35 and I think Wozni at 11.30ish so yes potentially a major inconvenience. Who knows what the US open authorities have up their sleeve regarding scheduling changes assuming the showers forecast do delay play. Luckily Andy is playing well enough to ensure quick matches, as five setters at this stage, with less rest days, would undermine his chances for winning the whole tournament. How about this , Andy could play first thing tomorrow and then have the night match on Sunday if the forecast rain does arrive.
Winds will be blustery tomorrow in particular but not unplayable. Jamaican/Brit(only for the right amount of cash)/German Brown probably won't mind the windy conditions coming from the Carribean.
