And Fish will play Fed in the final. Fed will overtake Djokovic in the rankings back to no 2, so in the US Open Andy as of more usual will be in either Rafa or Fed half, unlike here where he was in the Djokovic half and Rafa and Fed were in the other half.
Fish demolished Roddick, winning 11 of the last 13 games. I don't like the man, but on the other hand I don't like it when somebody beats Andy and then capitulates meekly in the next round - so that's a consolation.
Roddick actually served for the match at 5-3 in the second. Fish seems to be having one of those weeks like Querrey had in LA where fate seems to be on his side.
If Fish wins the final he moves above Andy in the US Open series. If Fed wins Andy stays top and will win the series unless Baghdatis wins New Haven or Fish (assuming he still goes there) reaches the final in New Haven.
Fish has withdrawn from New Haven after losing to Fed in the Cincinnati final so only Baggy ( assuming he's still in ) stands in the way of Andy winning the US Open Series and being on for a $ 1M bonus if he wins the US Open with not bad bonuses for slightly lesser progress and / or if he just finishes 2nd in the US Open Series.
yeah if you look at it it correlates with the ratio for the old ATP points system, although 100 points for a win rather than 50, 70 for runner-up to 35 etc., that explains how Baggy had good rewards despite not winning a tournament so far

The system is designed to encourage players to enter more of the events.
