Now looking forward to finding out what Fed says his injury is.
Good choice of username!
Apologies... it has always saddened me that the person who is possibly the most graceful tennis player of all time has, in the past, been something of a graceless loser.
Its why I root for Nadal after Andy. Great tennis player, great sportsman, great person.
Let me make a prophecy...within the next couple hours Fed will say...
"You know Andy has just beaten me in a final...ok that's good...but its not a grandslam final...its no big deal until he eats me in a GS final...blah blah blah"
That was great stuff from Andy...i wonder what excuse Fed will come up with this team for his defeat....he did get one in during his losers speech..." I havent played for 6 weeks..." honestly Rog get a grip.
I quite liked Andy's perhaps rather pointed "first win in final against Roger" given Roger has said more than once that despite the H - H Andy had never beaten him in a final.
Anyway, I'm not really wanting to have a go ( much ) but agree Rafa does come across as a much better sportsman, especially in defeat.

Not Andy's best performance, altough some great stuff at times, but in someways that makes it more impressive. To win both sets after having given up a break (a double break in the first set) against a player like Federer is very encouraging.
Matches like this really make me wish I could show a video of it to all those two week of the year tennis fans who think a) Andy isn't good enough to beat top players or b) has psychological problems that hold him back.
All in all a fantastic week which puts him in great place ahead of the US open. Hopefully it will be another good week in Cincy but I wouldn't be too worried if he had a poor result.
This week was possibly the most encouraging of Andy's career so far. Those desperate days of the spring (Miami and Monte Carlo) seem a long time ago.
What happened to the presentation ceremony on Sky. I was looking forward to hearing what Andy and Fed had to say, but we only got about 5 seconds coverage of Andy receiving the trophy.
Great effort by Andy, got his swagger back as Greg said and he really hit some monster serves in that last game. Overall very happy and I expect him to be a big factor at the US open, not the favourite but certainly in with a big shout. Also looks very fresh having played far fewer matches than normal by this time of the year.
I know, in the grand scheme of things, this win is not really very important. But I think it WAS very important to Andy: I was terrified that if Fed won again, for the 4th time in a row and the third time in a final, it would do terrible damage to Andy's just rediscovered confidence. And at least now Fed can no longer say, "I always beat him when it matters, in finals" - he'll have to change it to "in slams" or " in best-of-five". Even if he does, Andy can think, well, if I can win the first two sets in a slam, I'll have a darn good chance!
Despite the Federer fanatics on other boards claiming Fed doesn't care about this level of play, I think it would have been important for his own confidence to win this. He reckoned he had Andy sussed. He hasn't done too well himself since winning in Australia. His very loud yell of "C'mon!" when Andy put the ball long to give him the break-back just after the rain delay in the second set, showed to me that he cared about winning this one.
