*3-2 Darn it, I thought Andy was going to get a double break again, but the Argentinian held on.

Dunno, there have been a couple there this week that I don't recognise.

6-2 6-2! Now if only he could play like that more often!

Nalby was the heavy favourite with the bookies, I understand.

Morons Talking Fatuously certainly living up to that name when discussing this match.

First Murray was certain to be beaten in straight sets, now fatigue is the sole reason the superior talent lost.

When will people realise that defending takes talent as well and Andy is exceptional at it.

Superb performance.

Served really well and played nice and aggressive.

He will need to maintain that performance against Rafa but he has a good chance if he can do.

I'm not being a pain honest, but to me his aggression in that game was pretty average, serving well gave him the chance to control some rallies on his own serve that's the main difference IMO.The foundation to me was his defending making Nalbandian feel hopeless when trying to hurt him.

What a relief that a well focussed good ball striking performance like that has been produced again at last.

I can honestly say that, given his apparent return to pre-injury form, I expected Numpty to beat Andy today.  I'm so glad to have been proved wrong! ashamedbiggrin He looked so much more purposeful than in the latter stages of yesterday's match.  Here's hoping that he's now got (most of) the bad ones out of his system & that he can go on to defend his title. pray.gif

Sorry I was(uncharacteristically) being unclear and irascible at the same time.

I was referring to tennis discussion board MTF.

Yes, very good performance by Andy.  So many shots played with purpose to move Nalby around where he didn't want to be.  Nalby has no doubt played better, but what was coming from the other side I think steadily got to him.

Good controlled agression.  Andy indeed has huge defensive talent, in my view the best in the business, and it isa huge talent.  I think some folk's considered view ( not the morons smile ), and certainly mine, is that he sometimes falls back on that too much and allows others to dictate, rather than it be what sets him apart when needs must. Not today, great work  smile

Good serving today.  It will for now always be a bit of a worry that some days his serve his on and some days not and it makes life so much easier when it's going well.

Anyway, if it's to be Nadal, it should be fun.  They have had some great matches, and Rafa does often seem to bring out the best in Andy, if not at Wimby certainly in their hard court meetings.
