GSM Horn  6-3, 4-6, 6-2.  winner.gif

Impressive stuff from the 14 year old.

Great week in both singles and doubles for Pippa  clap.gif

She'll feel a real wrench leaving this week behind.

Astonishing from Horn but does it not say a little more about the other U18 girls?

Agree to an extent.  Though as David said in the OP over half the current top 10 ranked players were not here.  Also, Eleanor Dean and Katy Dunne, two other precocious talents were elsewhere.

Time will tell how good a player we have with Pippa.

Well in a lot of cases, it says they were elsewhere - this clashed with a G4 a few feet from a portugese beach which I guess is an attractive proposition this time of year and our top few U18s are above this level. But still a fantastic achievement given the quality of opposition that did turn up. The doubles victory is also a pretty big win for Amy.

Was it confirmed Pippa and Amy won the doubles ?  I was congratulating Pippa on a good week in singles and doubles, irrespective of how the doubles final went.

I was infering that from your last post. Have you been taking lessons from Anne K ;)

Great win for Pippa. If I had to judge her current level I would say she was at least as good as Katy Dunn but below Ellie Dean's standard.

Very difficult to compare. What I would say is that Pippa has always been talented but injury-prone, rather like her East Anglian compatriot Lisa Whybourn. I imagine that the injuries are the reason she wasn't included in this year's AEGON funded list, but this performance should ensure her future inclusion.
