Fran Stephenson won last year's event and there is a strong British presence here again including the following seeds

Half the first round was played today with Pippa Horn winning the big match at the bottom of the draw, and Dena Daly upsetting 5th seed Taro Keens

With one result outstanding (Ruth Seaborne's) one further seed fell today - qualifier Brigit Folland removing the Russian eighth seed to ensure a British semi-finalist from that quarter

The Japanese qualifier upset top seed Ruth Seaborne, leaving Pippa Horn, in her first final, the one remaining obstacle to the title

There is also a Tennis Europe U14 event taking place here and the final will be between two 1998 girls: Maia Lumsden (winner of a major under 12 event in Auray earlier this year, who beat top seed Freya Christie) and Jazzi Plews, who also has won an under 12 event in France this year.
