2nd match on Centre Court after Federer vs Berdych, which kicks off proceedings at 1pm.
Match score at ATP level is 2 - 1 to Andy, Andy's wins being in Metz in 2007 and Canada in 2009 with of course the first round Aussie Open win to Tsonga in 2008, all on hard courts. Tsonga also beat Andy on grass on the way to winning the 2004 Nottingham Challenger, early on in their careers.
Tsonga survived a bit of a scare from Dolgopolov in the 2nd round eventually winning 10 - 8 in the final set and has dropped sets to Kendrick and Benneteau whilst of course Andy has yet to drop a set. Quarter finals is further than Tsonga has ever been before at Wimbledon.
He is though a potential real danger in the sort of power player who if on song can potentially play through Andy if he reverts to more passive ways. However, Andy has been generally positive in play and body language through his 4 matches so far, and I take him to win this match in no more than 4 sets.

Whoever's in charge of the BBC streaming has been woeful this year - go to BBC sport, click "Wimbledon Live - Murray vs Tsonga" and get a cookery show. Had to goto iplayer to find the tennis.
Well, I was on edge for the first two sets, but started to relax when it was 5-1 in the third. . .
I said before the tournament started that in view of the way he has been playing these last months, I would be happy if he got to the quarters and ecstatic if he got to the semis again. So I'm ecstatic
I texted them about that. I was furious. Sue Barker came on to the live web stream explaining BBC2 viewers needed to switch to BBC1 and I thought surely the web stream will override that and to my horror the credits rolled and the Hairy Bakers came on for 15 minutes.
I wouldn't mind but I had sacrificed the TV remote to my 2 year old for "In The Night Garden" at 1-0 in the fourth (and ultimately final) set and went on to miss all but the last three points.
I wonder what would have happened if Tsonga had got that point when he left the ball at 5 all in the tiebreak and won the tiebreak to go 2 sets up.
My suspicion is that Andy may still have managed an epic 5 set win although Tsonga would have remained stronger for longer, but I'm very happy not to have found out.
I predicted Andy for the semi at the start of the tournament more on his draw than his form. And although that form has been coming round a bit the last month or so.his form at Wimbledon has been a very pleasant surprise.
People had said he needed a test, well Tsonga was test enough without being a long tiring match, so all good for the semi.
From going into Wimbledon provisionally ranked no 6 ( after last year's Wimbledon points were taken off ) Andy has now ensured he will remain at WR 4. Djokovic by the way will now be number 2 ahead of Federer.
Now Andy, you can make the final, even if it means Mad going really overboard on the happy smilies
Watching on TV, I could happily switch over as importantly could and would all tennis fans watching on TV. I hardly see any gain by such nonsense. You attract in some possible less keen tennis fans to the real detriment of some really big tennis fans. It causes so many other problems re folk trying to record or apparently watch streams. Advertise it on one particular channel, show it in full on that channel and stop messing about BBC !!

Very interesting. I forget, perhaps someone can tell me - when was the last time Federer was ranked #3? Did he ever drop as far down as #3 in the 2008-2009 musical chairs between Rafa, Fed, Andy and Nole... if I recall correctly he always maintained at least #2, so that should make the last time he was ranked #3 in 2003.
If Andy wins the Championship what rank will he become? No doubt steven will know this one.
