Interesting piece on the BBC website which quotes a LTA official as saying Eleanor is better than Laura was at the same age. I presume he must mean more talented as surely she would have to replicate Laura by winning this to justify such a statement.

I suppose he could mean better in the sense that I talked about earlier in how good is she is at her best. I would think overall though Eleanor is probably still far too inconsistent to be winning here, and is not overall a better player than Laura was at the same age.
I guess if she lost in the final to ( the now better ) Laura the jury could be out even in the overall sense, but I can't see her getting that far.
That said, really one tournament ( be it Wimbledon or wherever ) doesn't really prove or disprove such conjecture.
Eleanor shouldn't be too disappointed by the loss, she's had a great run on her junior slam debut. Plenty to work on, but also a tonne of talent, and loads of time to develop her game, as she is only 14.
Serve and particularly second serve average as in previous round, though Pliskova did have better fastest serve. I see Eleanor had only 2 aces here and was outaced 8 to 3 in her previous round when she was ahead in all speed categories ( partly though of course involves returner's abilities to get to ball ) so looks to be room to work on direction to benefit more from her power.
Laura took the first set 6-4 against Mestach, and it's now on serve in the second 3-3 (last time I checked). Tara is powering in her match, already up a set and a break. 6-1 4-2 with Moore serving.
The beeb just showed Tara serve out the match 6-1 6-3. Marsalek is next on the stream that is currently labelled "mixed doubles" (though it was actually womens dubs). No commentary for the final game of Moore's match or the subsequent one that shall involve James.
Just turned on the stream to see a slow motion replay of the final point. Very calm from Tara, no Golding style celebration and it should be a very close match against Laura presuming she wins today.
I think Tara will be very motivated and will play some of her best tennis. There were a few quotes from her saying she feels she should be talked about in the same sense as Heather and Laura and she'll want to prove that. She appears to be in good form anyway and it would be pretty big news here if Robson lost to another Brit.
